is it more about the theory in general about lighting because ive been learning that 2d wise, but Im more curious of what does what with lighting technology wise since I have no real idea what does what with a simple directional light versus omni light and such (like I know the BASICS of it but REALLY dont know the backbone of whats what)
but I'll look into that book if more people really say its that good
Ive got digital lighting and rendering, not a bad book but it doesnt go into detail on how to achieve good results in your chosen medium it simply states the facts and leaves you to work out the rest which is fair enough I guess. Good for beginner to intermediate I guess, I havent seen any books that are good for advanced lighting(like showing studio lighting set ups and how they work etc or showing the best ways to get realistic SSS)
I picked that one up a while ago. Lots of good general lighting info as well as some practical hands on stuff for 3ds max. For the price, its a great start.
