ok im gonna try this, i think ive come to a decision that i like environments better than characters, i enjoy building things from pieces.
heres my ref
and heres a question confusion, why go ahead and build the whole thing then unwrap 5 of the same piece? shouldn't you just build one piece that will be used however many times, get that done and then paste it around? I'm just confused why people build the whole thing, but maybe they rnt saying that its unwrapped all ready.
and another: when dealing with trim what is the best way to approach things?
single sheet tiling texture cut to size in the power of 2 with stretched uvs for tiling, geometry thats cut and aligned to the repeating trim pattern taking up a small space in a sheet containing other textures<-more geo, or a really long piece of trim texture on a sheet with other textures<-more texture space
guess im gonna need geometry for this(yes the normal maps are just pasted and rotated so they are off)
maybe not?

but thats about a third of the pieces
question: is there a way to make z brush not make your alpha into a square with the drag function, and buffer out the edges...
