#2 - Is it just me or are these character models really bad?

I think that looks bad ass...I think the characters are a pretty good 3d interpretation of Tartakovsky 2d version...I liked the animated Clone wars serial better than the live movie though...

the style is fantastic. the Dooku one, which you cant really see well in that trailer is especially awesomely designed.

It's just that I love the 2d version so much, this doesn't live up, in my eyes. That Samuel L Jackson model is terrible!

Dunno what your problem with the models is. I adored the 2D version, and I agree this is a pretty decent interpretation of those.

As for dialog. . . what dialog? There were like 5, one liners in there, which were all pretty cliche/standard Star Wars stuff. . . but that's pretty much expected at this point.

Style is great! The execution of it, I dunno. Looks like they took awesome designs and let the animatic team make some videos. Star Wars isn't Mamet, the dialog has always been pretty ass. I'll probably still buy into these though.

I'm excited.

The style looks fine, the animations look to be a little dicey at points especially in the hands the lip sync, but its hard to tell for sure. I'm sure I'm nit picking the thing to death and should just enjoy it.

I will be there opening day. I saw a new trailer on speed racer this eve that showed Jabba. I hadn't seen him in the others. I'm loving Count Dooku's look in this. Can't wait!

I'm undecided.. I mean, I like the style they got going but it feels pretty kiddy, but I suppose that's what they are going for. the way the characters were built also reminded me a little of Rock Band's style

Nice style, but all of the animation looks wooden to me, like the character haven't got any weight or balance to them...almost like something you'd see in an average student reel. And some of the camera work is flashy but meh. Crossing my fingers for some good writing.

I'm sure it'll be a fun movie... but for SW fans only. It'll probably be lucky to make it's money back. After Episode 3 I think the general public is a little Star Warsed out. We've already covered this material before with the clone wars animated stuff. What's the point. Even tho I'm a really big SW fan myself. I would rather them cover some area like KOTOR or stories between the prequels and sequels. Maybe a direct to video film would be okay...

I think theres more than enough Star Wars fans to make even the most niche film profitable and this looks like it'll have reasonable appeal to the less geeky. It seems a little unfortunate that they didn't get Tartakovsky in again to do his thing, though I guess that would have been even more redundant.

Yeah, I didn't care about seeing it before, but now I think I will. Star Wars isn't what it once was for me, but I think it looks fun. I'd rather they had done episodes 1-3 this way.

but I dont mind a new approach, although they dont have that romantic/epic feeling the old ones had, but we always tend to idealize things of the past hehe.

Like it was mentioned in an earlier post, the translation from 2D to 3D is great. I really like the style, though I'm disappointed the animation isn't as exaggerated as it is in the 2D. I'll still check it out.
