Block diagram for level design?

I applied for a level design job and as it seems they did like my portfolio they now asked me to make a level design in block diagrams with explanations in text.
Now I never made block diagrams before and I do not have a good idea how to apply this to the level designing.
Does anyone knows how to go about this or knows where I can find some sort of example for me to view.
If anyone can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.
