yeah, im not too keen on ozy--the rest look pretty good I think, but Ozy looks kinda goofy, instead of majestic/golden/heroic, like his character calls for.
Agreed with paul_c and blankslatejoe, and I thought Nite Owl looked a bit too much like Daredevil or something, actually... and the guy they've got playing Ozymandias certainly doesn't look much like how he appeared to me in the books. Too young and goofy, like joe said.
Apart from that, looks perfect imho ... hope it lives up to this...
Ugh, Ozy looks terrible. Not only the actor looking young, etc, but the framing, and pose, and everything else is just freakin' terrible and is the antithesis of regal confidence and power that Ozy has. The costume looks more Batman than Nite Owl's costume, and Ozy looks more scared than cunning
Sweet, I actually just finished read Watchmen today at work (whilst baking maps) and loved it.
But I do agree with the comments so far, particularly ozy. It even says part way though that he's in his forties, so maybe that shot is of him around when he first started adventuring?
Should have been a yellow hue for the pic. Also would have preferred Rorshach to have a more slender shape, but he still looks great.
Perhaps theres a reason to recreating Ozy more so than the others. It could simply be an attempt to foreshadow the plot turn later in the story, he does look more intense and capable of evil now doesn't he?
I think people are quibbling over little details that really aren't important. NightOwl always looked like batman, what matters more is that he clearly still has a bit of a belly which is as nice a touch as Rorschach looking short.
Sometimes these things are important when the more colourful comic characters travel to the big screen, look at Xmen.
Theres something very peculiar about the shot of Ozy. Looks almost like he's had a pair of legs that aren't quite the right scale photoshopped on a little too far up his torso or something.

I've been trying to figure that out myself, it looks like he has no hips; it goes straight from waist to legs. Wacky!
As to his youth, they're using actors far younger than they really should be for the main thrust of the story as it's a lot easier to age someone through makeup and digital effects than it is to make them look younger (witness the well done, but somehow creepy effect of the young Dr X and Magneto at the begining of X-Men 3).
Ozy, at the time of Watchmen, is retired, and has been for quite a while - at the height of his heroic endevours he'd probably be about the age potrayed here. The costume does look a bit peculiar though - but Snyder is known for doing heavy digital touchups (such as adjusting the pectoral and abdominal muscles in 300), so maybe this isn't the final look.
My only real beef is that the actor playing the Comedian (Jeffrey Dean?) looks a little small across the shoulders compared to how I remember him in the strip. Blake had a pretty massive upper body - could just be the pose though, his forearms are right on the money.
Yeah, Ozy looks a little young/skinny to me as well, but hopefully he's bad-ass still in the movie. I wonder if they are leaving the story alone and if it'll be a good straight adaptation or if they are going to try to monkey w/ the ending. Curiously, Dr. Manhattan is absent...I wonder if he's going to be heavily CGified. It would make some sense I think.
I just hope Dr. Manhattan walks around naked after he receives his powers...not because I want to see naked nuclear crotch in my face, but because that is an integral part of his shift from man to god-like diety.

Well, it's Zack Snyder directing, who did 300, and that was a pretty straight port from graphic novel to movie, so hopefully he realises that messing too much with the story (beyond making it work better for screen if needed) is probably gonna hurt his chances of big success.
And did they not announce the Tales of the Black Freighter was going to be integral too?
(although I see it being chopped to appease the running time of average joe and then put in for the special edition extended directors cut uber collectors dvd boxed set)

the story with that, i heard, is that they filmed all the sequences but they cut them out due to running time and will put them all on the DVD. it may have changed since i heard that though
I picked up the book a few weeks ago, but a dude here at work scammed it off my desk and hasn't given it back yet... DOUCHE! So I'm hoping I get to read it before the film is out.
It's been something I've been wanting to read for ages, but always forget to pick it up when at a comic shop.

Rorschach looks cool and that's all that matters for me.
Damn that looks good I'm excited.
They've nailed The Comedian, but I'm hoping that's a pre-scar shot and they haven't just settled with that dimple next to his eye.

The Comedian looks absolutely wonderful, though.
I spoooged.

Nevertheless, I'm suitably impressed.
I love how close this is looking to the comic. Now to return to drooling over the pictures.

However, it does look awesome.

Just saying...
Don't think they did too bad to be honest!
