Hi Polycount,
Here are a few of my initial doodles for this year's contest.
The first thing that occurred to me was a monkish fellow with an artifact in his gut who would offer it a swig of wine to summon a holy worm (corrosive to metal but regenerative to organic matter). Second was a Clericon in a funny hat. I like both ideas okay but decided to cast the net a little wider just in case...
After a few dozen random scrawls my favorite was a warrior with floating gas-filled armor. Something that helped me with this idea was roughly visualizing what the grunts of a floating army would look like then coming up with the type of warrior who could be their leader/hero.
By this point I was finally starting to get warmed up so I did a few more. I quite like the last guy on the right whose hands have been chopped off and replaced by floating lava claws.
A few artifact ideas...
And lastly a few pedestal/base ideas for presentation.
Well, I'm planning to move forward with the female floating warrior and keep Mr.Lava-Hands as a backup. I hope to have some more refined concepts up soon

Good luck nd have fun
Go baby, go!
Here she is: she floats, she plucks robot eyes, her weapon is a lightning sword powered by a feisty li'l larva... and her name's Wikpilty.
Asidefrom that, should be a very interesting entry, it scores high on originality already.
lookin sweet all the same
lots of very subtle colors going on there, beautiful concept.
It might be cool to see more of a link between the weapon and the wielder..maybe a wine bladder on the hip, or a spare larvae stowed away for backup..
ps. my advice is irrelevant, you are jesus, and this forum isn't worthy
