I have 2 pages of thumbs, this is one. And none of these are the ones being used, although I do like the mask in the top middle.
The other page is on my home computer.
However, I'm fairly sure I'm pushing more towards a beastman, 4 horns (two curly ram horns, two gazelle horns), metal dredds. Probably going to be one of those magic flingers.
I reckon it'll be a cross between Masters of the Universe and Mad Max. So a shotgun then.

So the people who own Sofis (after rescuing it from the Bay Hose as I recall), and Boda and Victorias, bought Joseph Pearses a few months ago (almost 6, meh).
Go now (if you live in Edinburgh. Might be closed now actually), best pub on Elm Row. Not as good as the Roseleaf in Leith, but everyone knows that cos you can never get in these days, it's HEAVIN'. The guy who owned it before when it was the desolate Black Swan must be gutted. Amazing what some wallpaper and some love can do to a place.
Anyway, I cannae draw. I copied over the top of a pose from a miniature I liked. I changed the head and feet and legs and body though. I'd go back to lifedrawing, but they don't have many chaos beastman sorcerers these days. Dr Sketchys has corsets though.
My next step is to start refining individual parts - the chest area, gauntlets, artifact etc.
I've still not decided whether or not the huge sword of dobbage is the artifact, or if it's being held in the other hand. Or both, the handheld item being part of the cleaver.
Or perhaps he's a magic user WITH A HUGE SWORD. GRR! Grunt!
edit : happy ?
I'm thinking that the horns are like a rhino - they start as hair, then become dredds, then become Bonsai horns.
Trying to get some torso armour that I'm happy with - I know what I don't want, but honing in on what I do want is more tricky.
I've actually nailed a few parts of the armour - the lower legs are pretty much sorted, and their design will obviously influence the other sections.
I'm not sure about the massive back, I like how it is pushing the shape, but I think it's slightly overpowering.
Facial hair like that would be a cool idea, but does bring to me a tribal feeling.
Anyway, sitting on the sideline to see where this will go.
I had more fun with it tonight, it seemed less of a "come up with a design" and more "paint monster bits"
Then again I'm sure you'll improve on all this as it goes along ... looking forward to see where it ends up
Tribal facial hair FTW
Anyway, a quick Wacom sketch of the revised proportions, which I'm much happier with. None of the armour is in this.
Next step is to make another rough model, paint over that and then get tore in.
Feet are too big there, but I started blocking out the sword. The axe looking end is going to be a block of cut metal that looks like a collection of blades. A more angular version of something a BIT like this:
The left is the proportions I prefer, the right is doodles of the armour
I need to put down some colour studies, and need to start building things.
sweet idea on the weapon to! really diggin that fanblade type axe you've got going on
His upper arms are a bit long compared to the forearms, but this is because I lifted the shoulders to try something and forgot to drop them before I took the grabs. Lowering the shoulders a wee bit will redefine the upper arch of the body.
Then I tried it with layering up some cloned curves and a quick kilt:
I think I'll cut a stylised PC logo into the gauntlets - the lowest section being the mouth, the next one having the eyes.
Alex
is this going to be a cute bunny head ? pleeeeeease
Cheers folks. It's time to start converting some of those sketch parts into real parts. I think that very little will need to be sculpted, it seems that high poly modelling may be a better bet for all the mechanical sections.
If it was for an engine and the sword was on a spearate texture sheet I'd probably do two layers and have each set of UVs animated in different directions. Kinda like the water effect Animal Crossing, but less watery.
I've managed a few hours tonight:
I had planned to build symmetrical arms, however I may revise that as I quite like the different shape each arm has. Thoughts?
Anyway, tomorrow I'll actually get round to cutting the arms off and get started on the torso armour.
I think I'll also play more with the sword proportions - it does look a little wimpy at the minute
and not sure about the armor-plates on the forearm
keep going.. like the look and feel of the body
and the bunnyheaaad...
BUNNIES! BUNNIES FTW!
One arm could be his shield arm and the other a sword arm with lighter armor.
