I would like to say I am a real fan of your use of the green and black. I liked your black and white versions but I also dig your color scheme. I can see why the size could make it less agile, but it doesn't bother me. Good stuff, cant wait to see more.
Well, I have been messing around and decided to change the design up a fair bit, lopped off some legs and made him more bipedal. I've kept a lot of the elements I liked from my previous design, mainly the head and the staffs (now doubled up). What do you think? If people like the older one more I'll go back to it and explore it further.
This is cool, and I definetly like the material study you did on the head. Personally though I like the anatomy of the last black and white you did most. But either way its really sweet.
I really love the newest iteration, the design is very unique, and while it may appear less intimidating I think this could really help differentiate your entry from many others. The palette you chose is also very nice. I think this has a lot of potential though I would like to see what he might look like from the back.
Nice dude. The colour scheme works so much better then the black one. I really like the new upper bodey and arms. Go for the multiple-leg-approche. Allot of legs taste better.
Oh wow man. I totally love the new concept, colors and all. Sure, it loses some of the sheer mass of the multilegged one, but i think it is more unique and better suited for this competition. It also flows better with the cool head design. Plus, ive already seen alot of people doing multi or atleast 4 legged creatures. Maybe its just me, but to see an exotic insectoid creature on two legs. my only crit is try to avoid the pointed feet. Its overdone and impractical for his mass.
Appreciate the comments guys, I think I am going to stick with the 2 legged creature. The multiple limbed variant was cool but ultimately I just wasnt feeling it.
cool concept, the black bits seem a bit of a heavy contrast to the rest of the earthy organic colour scheme. Maybe it will be more readable with more detail and specular , I dont know.
Another round of revisions, some drastic stuff again too. Wandered back into multi limbed territory and I'm a bit stuck as to which way to take him, I like both a lot but I need to get the design locked pretty soon. Which do ya think??
id go with the 4 legged one, since there is a big mass at his back It would seem like a more stable and logical path. Try to know down the smaller details on the face and arms to give an extra punch to the concept. But atm, design and execution are excellent, Keep it up m8!
I say go with the 3 legged one! As it seems split down the middle Fight with people liking either the 2 or the 4 legged version. Both are damn cool, and a strong concept either way, and think you need to get onto painting so you can finish this thing up:) Great work all around.
Hehe Spark, 3 legs would win After some serious thinking, I find myself drawn to the biped again, I dunno, he just feels like more of a character and certainly more intelligent. I think Im gonna stick with him, albeit with some modifications to his feet/spikes. Time to start thinking of final image composition and stuff I guess.
Been a while since I posted, combination of busyness and lazyness. Here is my latest on my final image, the feet are not gonna be staying like this, have a different idea for them. I just hope i get this and the other 2 sheets done in time
I really like the way the character has turned out, the weapon/robot thing its standing on doesnt seem to fit in, in my opinion it should stand out less/have more atmosphere and be more gritty with small details on it, its too clean and bright, and makes it look like this character is much smaller than his enemys?
