Hey guys, a mega rough sketch to show the direction i'm thinking of going in with my char. It's basically gonna be some huge multi limbed alien style thing
whoa. i love all the curves on the staff. that hooked beak makes for a really dramatic looking character. can't wait to see some color schemes, my imagination runs wild over the materials as well.
More tweaking, getting happier with the general shapes/sillhouette. I've decided hes going to be an invoker, of what I'm not sure yet This is just his basic flesh body, theres gonna be armour etc too. Heaps of fun though hehe.
Ok, last one for tonight. Added some organic tissue to hold the carapaces down to the body, don't really want to go down the route of metallic armour etc, want to keep armoured parts of the body as natural as possible.
Beautiful man. Personally I love the black and white color scheme as is. Maybe a hint of opalescence like an abalone shell and something for the underside, but for the most part It looks so good in B&W I have a hard time picturing it looking better any other way.
Very cool:) The side view is working really well. He's got some great areas of busy vs. quiet shapes with the shells and sinew underneath. Some great repeating shapes(with varying sizes) on the wings too and the repeating spirals from the side which are all really appealing. Maybe you can carry a little more of that into the front view by varying up the sizes of the top flaps a little more and giving the belly the upward sweep you've got in the side view... It's lookin great!!!
Awesome work man. I have to agree with naruSol, black and white on the armor and then maybe a strong vibrant contrasting color for the organic parts would be beautiful. Just a suggestion though, you are the master
Last update for a few days from me, busy weekend and no time to work on it. Followed Birds advice and played with the carapace size in front view, looks a wee bit cooler now i think.
Hey guys. A super quick mock up of how Im thinking of colouring him. Still lots of details to be worked out, his feet/arms/hand etc. Just thought I'd get some ideas on colour down on paper first.
i think i like it all but the head, the head seems very mech at the moment. you can make it sleek and clean without looking robotic. might be worth it to do a couple head variations and see if anything screams out to you
I like the evolution in this one. Maybe the scale is a bit too big compared to the human, which kind off makes it look like a truck. Which might be good if you intended it. But it also maked it a bit less agile if you know what I mean.
Nice update fightpunch. I acctually liked white-ish feel of the scales from the linedrawing, escpacially on the head. But its going to be intressting how this ends up. Now I really need to post some stuff to. o.o

Belltan: Colourscheme wise, I do have one in mind, will start doing some colour tests once ive ironed out all the design stuff.
A quick sketch of how I want the chest area to be, natural looking hardened armour to protect his vitals, and of course, a polycount flag
love every bit of it so far, i agree the natural armour would look way better than slapping on plates etc.
