Mid-Sr. Concept Artist needed for Cryptic Studios
Concept Artist
We are currently looking for a full-time Concept Artist. Join the Cryptic team where you can influence and illustrate a fanciful universe that will be recreated in three dimensions for console and PC platforms, in an environment that allows your art skills to flourish. Armed with your knowledge of color theory, anatomy and environments, you will help to invent and define the Cryptic universe.
Located in Northern California in Los Gatos, we offer the fun, focused and casual atmosphere of a small developer. We actively balance our work with the personal lives of our employees. At Cryptic, we only hire the best and most talented people who love the work, the genre and the game.
Every day you could be:
Conceptualizing worlds, characters and events for multiple designs and multiple lead artists.
Creating content that is consistent with original and licensed IP's.
Brainstorming original content depending on project needs.
Giving and receiving very concise and constructive feedback to and from your peers.
Providing general visual critiques of 2-D and 3-D assets when needed.
What we'd like to see:
Strong figure and life drawing skills, which include skill with lighting, perspective, anatomy, color theory and architectural design.
The ability to sketch rough ideas very quickly and clearly. You should be able to conceptualize characters, creatures, environments, props and vehicles for multiple projects, genres and lead artists.
Proficiency with Photoshop.
The ability to provide general visual critiques of 2-D and 3-D assets when needed.
Great communication skills.
Some experience with a 3-D software package.
Your portfolio should contain:
A minimum of 6 pieces of concept art, showing skill with lighting, perspective, anatomy, color theory and architectural design.
All work shown must be in a final state. Works in progress are acceptable only if the minimum amount of pieces has been satisfied.
All work should reflect the position you are applying for.
