A DOOM favourite, remade for DOOM 3, and now once again...
Exactly 500 triangles. I don't think I'll use the 150 extra for this guy. Might make some of the other DOOM 3 monsters though, since this one only took an hour and a half for modelling and UV-mapping.
The horribly quick UV-map... no idea how well it will work when I do the texture, but we'll see:
Texture tomorrow.

Quick start on the texture... giant pixels = teeth.
I think making the lower jaw a bit larger and exaggerating the teeth a little will help achieve a greater likeness.
I did this because..
the type of shit thats possible with so little!!
i want these types of skills!
amazing stuff MoP! pinky's my fav in the doom series... and if there ever was a psp doom, id want this model of pinky in there lol! its effin awesomee! i agree about exaggerating the teeth, like spacemonkey said. and id like to suggest a bit more pinking further back from after the legs.
could u post up the texture, at a higher res? i dont care about the blurring, i just wanna see how u did that lighting, and its not too clear when the tex is that tiny box
if u dont mind i mean!
cant wait to see this finished... it smells of win...
indian_boy: Well, that's the res I'm painting it at, so if you want to see it closer, just copy that image into your favourite image view and zoom in...
Quick rig and pose, texture still very WIP:
and yea:
goddamit!
screw normal maps for real man!
thats awesome!
but id suggest, add some spec to the pink / red parts...
planning on animating him by any chance? he seems to be wanting it lol!
what are the chances of an SDK after the contest?
little question: how do you make those turnarounds? (how do you make the camera make a nice circle around it, and not some keyframed rounded off square).
thanks in advance.
indian_boy: Yep, spec will come later.
Sectaurs: Heh, I guess I could do. We'll see.
Japhir: Well, for that one I'm lazy so I just rotated the mesh itself and rendered from a static camera
Although you could set up a quick rig with a spline circle and just set the camera to follow the circle as a path if you needed to use a camera.
Final image:
I don't really wanna work on it anymore, it was a fun project for a day but I think I'm gonna leave it there.
Might tweak the walk cycle to be better, or make a run/idle cycle, but maybe not...
Asmuel, I'm sure you could still do it if you wanted. Then we can have a pinky-fight!

Sounds good , I might try and put something together. Though it'll be hard to beat something people are already saying is 10/10!
just
woahness
all that in one day
awesome!

I haven't even started mine yet... your speed depresses me almost as much as your results. In a good way, tho

You know what? Screw it. Doom 3 is next-gen enough.
*is confused by his own statement*
It was also recommended to reduce the texture to 64x64, 16 colours to save memory, it actually holds up fairly well (although the texture in the photos is the original 128x128, 24-bit image). 48k instead of 2k is quite a potential saving!
It really is amazing how good that model looks on the DS. You'd think more developers would be pushing the low-poly goodness on the DS.
