Rockstar suggests that GTA IV will be a bigger leap forward for the series than 3d was.
I don't know if I agree, but I haven't played the game.
Whenever GTA3 came out, it was a lone wolf. The first of its kind.
Now its part of a genre of games (pioneered by Rockstar of course) of Open World games, and every competitor of merit has a sequel in the pipeline to come out soon as can be witnessed by the fans of Mafia 2 above.
It will be interesting to find out just how big of a transition GTA IV really is.
I was all for getting on PC, As I've played pretty much every other GTA game on PC (Pretty much own them all, except GTA2 and the odd expansion), but after playing Saints Row on 360 I can't see myself playing GTA IV on anything but console.
I remember the days when I used to argue that PC was far more superior than console for gaming, now the only games I'll play on PC are WoW and FPS, oh and Minesweeper, baby!
I'm with you, casey. I used to be one of those guys who'd scoff at consoles, and hug my PC. But then I decided to actually get an Xbox 360 just to play Dead Rising and Saints Row. Well.. What can I say, now I prefer the consoles.
Still, my PC is still a gaming machine in many ways. I couldn't play Company of Heroes, or Sins of a Solar Empire on a console.
What brome? You must have GTA now, or your life is over? When was the original release date of GTAIV anyway? Nearly a year ago? What's a couple more months if it makes it a better game? You wouldn't know if any changes were made if there was a delay, anyway.
Meh it was an analyst suggestion that T2 might delay it, I doubt it would actually happen.
Personally I cannot see it benefiting them much seeing as the holiday season is always jam packed with huge titles anyway and right now there isn't a lot to go up against.
I don't see this delay happening either. The analyst mentions the holiday season, and that's not a few months - more seven or eight. GTA4 is one of the rare sure-hit titles coming to market, and it doesn't need the holiday push to be successful. All a delay on this title does is boost numbers in a particular quarter. I can't imagine that EA needs to stack the deck to make their holiday sales look good, seeing as they already own half the industry.
Put in my preorder for the special edition of this and Fallout3 at the start of the week
I've never really gotten deep into a GTA game before, Vice city started to sink its hooks into me but crunch on Unreal2 got a firmer grip instead. So this ought to be my first true experience of the game.
Any of you guys get any pictures of the buildings in SF or NY....? I have seen Niko's 'wanted poster' on Canal but I know there are others now... (might be enormous posters...)?
bargh. I went from not wanting the LE to wanting it but now I don't think I can afford the extra.. it's probably not smart on my part.. but I want the art book and lockbox for some reason XD
what happened what? Looks good to me. Those are some super-detailed characters for random people on the street. They're doing interesting things. Nice color palette and lighting. The texture work on the environment is nice and consistent. That is a good looking game.
Wow interesting screenshot! Do they use some sort of 'despeckle' effect to be able to use lower res models/textures in the background or something? Or is it a style choice? That guy with the cap on that screenshots seems awfully low-poly, yet it fits right in the scene!
6-7 more Days!!! I pre-ordered mine in a local gameshop, and the guy behind the counter said that it should be arriving at the 28th(even though the official release date is supposed to be the 29th). I hope he was right!
Ok, I just ordered the game. I already have a duffel bag and safety deposit box so I passed on the Super Collectors Limited Directors Cut Edition of it though.
