powered speakers recommendations ?

Hi all!

I'm on a hunt for powered speakers. I used a friend's pair a couple years ago and was quite impressed by the quality and power these things can deliver! And now I want some :P

So far I found these solutions :

Note that I don't own an iPod hence no need for a docking port. But it seems like the Apple Hi-Fi is good nonetheless?

Budget is around 300usd... Less is best. Use would be music 90% of the time and games/movies occasionally. The plan is to hook that up to a computer, and I want to have a decent music sound for a small apartment. Any recommendations? I am sure some of you know tons about that!

Heh, interestingly enough I was also in the market for a pair of speakers like this soon. So I'd also be interested to hear anyone's recommendations if they own some.
I was leaning towards some Klipsch RB-81 speakers myself:

Seem to be getting good reviews from most places I've seen.

After reading up a bit on the Audioengine speakers, it seems that the A5 set are also very good and kinda what I'm after. I will investigate further.

My advice would be to make sure you listen to them in person before buying. Bring an MP3 player with some favorites to plug in, get a sense for how they reproduce your favs. Makes sense, speakers can be very subjective.

And play it in a small testing lab...showrooms can be quite
misinterpreting.
