Monster Mind (wip)

hi all!
there is my (wip) version of the old Monster Mind, vehicle character from the old "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" TV Show...
This is a "fan" tribute for a incredible concept who made me dream when I was a kid .

Don't hesitate to say what you think about it...

Whoo.. that is creepy. Never heard of the show... not something I would let my kids watch I guess

The "flow" of the wood turned out really nice, just those cut off stumps don't quite fit into it...the look not as if they could have been a part of the tree before beeing cut off.

The flow of the roots and stumps are actually kind of frightening...what I would do to bring it out would be adding some more signs of vegetation and color to it.

Neat, what was your technique to do the tree in zbrush(if that is zbrush)?

Yep this is zbrush (3.1), and I use maya for a little low poly 1st.
The technique is simple:
I use the stich1 brush with an alpha like alpha58 in subtraction (you can also use tracks1 which is originally substractiv). Using it in multiple draw size and intensity simulate the fractal bases of natural things.

That is friggin awesome. Keep at it-- it's cool looking so far. My only crit would be that you seem to be deviating from the concept-- the "car" base in the drawing looks more like an old open-wheeled roadster, where your model looks like a gnarled base of a tree trunk more than a car-- but it's WIP, so you'll probably bring that back in later on

Good call on the show too-- I used to love it as a kid but could never remember the name-- I remember owning coloring books and a couple other things when I was young, but all that's lost now..

I loved Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors! I watched the intro again and I would like to see different plant/elements as he is part way through the transition! But its a cool piece your doing

Many thanks for your comments, but I have a bad news: I failed to finish for the dead line... I had many zbrush crashes and technical problems that I finally resolve 1h just before the dead line

So the good news is that I can take more time to finish this well!

Without reading I looked at the image and thought that looks like a rip off of the bad guy in that old cartoon I watched as a kid... then I read it was hahaha.
