Any one else pick this gem up? While the singleplayer campaign is short, its probably one of the better 5 hours of FPS gaming I've ever played (next to Portal).
I've mentioned this before in other threads, but I really think Infinity Ward/Treyarch/the CoD brand does an amazing job on 'production value'. The game literally feels like being in a movie. Explosions, dialogue, NIS's... they're all top-notch.
The other thing I love about this game, and the other 3 CoD's, is that there is no fluff. There's no puzzles, extended character development, nothing! You read / get told the mission while the map loads then BAM!.. maps loaded and you're knee-deep in shit with about 300 rounds of ass kicking metal.

Assassins Creed is also on my list for next week. That's going to kick ass
some parts of the game are borderline photorealistic - it's insane.
Unfortunately for me, my purchasing power is locked until XMas, so like GH3, I'll be waiting on this one
I can't wait to get this game though. The beta was so damn fun.
is the game that good ? what are the specs ? i might get it to try it dunno...

I don't know what the specs are but it ran great for me and my system is pretty old now. I have an Athlon 64 3200, 1.5g RAM, an Audigy, and a GeForce 7600 GT. It's crap for most modern games other than Source engine ones but the CoD4 demo ran great with the settings turned down a bit.
playing matches with head-shots only is a blast
The one where your partner's leg is damaged and you're waiting for the helicopter to evac you..
EDIT: Nevermind. Holy crap
Has anyone compared the 360 version to the pc? Curious to know how much If anything of the graphical bells and whistles have been turned down for Xbox. Starting to chug on my pc, but with everything on high it's extremely impressive. Props to the team.
I wonder if Infinity Ward has hired anyone from the movie industry to help direct this.
I tip my hat to the team and everyone involved.
EDIT: Oh and the DOF is bloody well done in this game. Can definitely see the improvement over CoD 3's depth of field.
Oh dear, look at all those repeating textures on the pipes. Awful.

I was just thinking the same. Those are glaring mistakes. Every pipe seems to have two chips in every bend
The highlight for me was the short bit of control you have after the bomb goes off. It was a really fantastic moment.
Edit: Also, the use of mo cap is the best I've seen - it's perfectly integrated with the regular animation system and really helps with believability. Examples: chasing the guy in the tracksuit through the town, helping and following your sniper buddy.
Best Cheat Mode Ever
Ragtime Warfare
I took this picture because I couldn't belive, for an FPS, that this level of detail was being displayed to me in real-time....
i fucking HATE martyr grenade. seriously, who thought it was a good fucking idea to put in an automatic grenade drop when you die. at least make them press a fucking button.
fuck!

The one scene that did it for me was about half-way in, I was resting up against a dumpster and 2 of my team-mates ran up to the dumpster and started to push it forward so our attack could advanced. While it doesn't sound impressive, it was watching the whole think unfold that was: They were fighting with me, shooting over my head while I laid down cover fire. One of them ran up and started to push, flinging his rifle to around his back, while the second guy put a few more shots in to the fray before giving him a hand. It was all completely seemless and I couldn't believe it had happened so smoothly.

Yup, bloody fantastic recreation of Chernobyl.

Also, if you haven't seen it, let the AI kill the first three guys in the boat. If you don't interfere, one of them will have a scripted death animation where he'll turn, run, and fall under a hail of gunfire into the side of one of the consoles.
Little touches like that do an amazing job breaking up the normal videogamey feel of combat.
Impossible on veteran.
DAMN.
I know what it is:
Impossible on veteran.

After the first batch of people, pick up the fallen FNP90 and use that. It has a mag of 80 rounds or so. Then, flash bang -> shoot -> flash bang -> shoot, over and over. And shoot from the hip, not iron-sight.
I just finished the Shock & Awe mission...O_O
amazing
I had to stop playing. I haven't been blinking enough over the last few hours. My eyes! ack
Best Buy seems to have a deal of Assassin's Creed & CoD4 for $90
