Don't think so. Though pressing Y is faster than heading all the way over to Enter.
Oh, Scott Ruggels used to have a tut on the old polycount for spline/patch low-poly modeling. I have it saved offline somewhere, could probably dig it out if you want.
I'm just playing around with it at the moment, it seems like a pretty quick alternative, its just a bummer about those weld/close popups, and how you cant join 2 verts that arent end points.
Doesn't really matter that you can't join the verts. IIRC the Surface modifier doesn't care, as long as they're close to each other, and each patch has either 3 or 4 sides.

It'll be a MHT file when you unpack it, only openable by Internet Explorer I think.
