Moving to Dallas!!?

It looks like I will be moving from Sunny Florida to Damn it's hot Dallas early next year. I should graduate in March with my Bachelors in Computer Animation so hopefully I can start making some of them Dallas get togethers. Still looking for a Dallas internship too.. I can make coffee and go for burger runs.

sweet! I am liking dallas alot. Its kinda like raleigh, NC except people say "ya'll" less, its 90s all the time, people drive like maniacs, cost of living is cheaper.

as far as game developers go, there are a ton here and alot in austin too. I'm sure you'll have no problems finding an internship. Gearbox offers an internship program called COGS that you may want to visit on their website.

Anyone got any suggestions on where to buy a house? We can afford upwards of 200k for a house. Just don't want to move into a bad neighborhood.

Grapevine, Lewisville, and Plano are all nice areas with studios nearby. I'm not really sure about the rest of Dallas though. Don't come to Denton unless you're finishing your degree, theres way too many emo kids here

I would go for plano/addison area, thats around the middle of north dallas, which should make it about equidistant to most studios, you should easilly be able to afford a decent place for 200k around there. but i guess best option would be to check out where all the studios are and think about where u'd like to work and get a place closer to that

Hey, glad to hear that your heading to Dallas Dekard. There is alot of talent around here let alone alot of great game studios. I would suggest along the lines of what Rawkstar is saying, find out maybe what companies your interested in, and have a chance at getting into, then settle down there. You have to take in account that Texas is big, where it feels like the normal drive time anywhere else is 5 minutes..in texas its 30:P Let us know when you get here, and well try and make Rawkstar throw a party, as he needs to throw a party for his new place, so this would be a good enough reason to do so:) ( if you ever need one to throw a party:) )
