unsharp reference planes in max

hi guys, a small question:
in max 9, always when i assign my orthographic images to a plane, the image gets really pixelerated and unsharp, even though the actual image assigned to the plane is pretty big and sharp...
any idea's how this can happen and what to do about it?

what are your display settings? have you configured your driver to use the biggest texture sizes possilbe?

Preferences -> Viewport -> Configure driver, background size (check 1024 and match as closely as possible)
