any piece of traditional art? like a drawing that someone created or does it have to be a known artists? Say I use a piece of concept art that I found online, that I want to make into a 3d scene.
I would rather we try to stick to traditional known artists and pieces of art that were made before the digital age. Definitely NO concept art. It needs to be a finished piece of work.
i guess people are busy or too lazy ! i personally find the topic really cool and can bring some cool entrys , but i guess people are busy , as we saw on the last contest.
I am trying to figure out, what I could model for this contest, but I am not certain on the topic - it seems to be so "free".
For example, could I just take a painting of Monet or Dali and build a 3D scene of that picture? Or could I build a scene that has a similiar style? Or could I go as far and create a scene that has just some typical aspects of a epoch (like egyptian or baroque)?
When I try to come up with an idea, I wonder if it is a legal one - just for example: A statue in renaissance style that creates a statues that creates a statue ... or is it more tight to the art that has really been created years ago?
kub I really like this topic but im trying to poweer through cgchat's comp first.
I even know what I wanna model. I took some pictures of this rad statue at the louvre that I always wanted to recreate in 3d.
I don't know if I'll get the chance to get going on it, but I might be able to.
I was thinking. Since polycounters are usually a bit too busy to get into comps most of the time, perhaps you could consider having really long comps instead. That way entries will trickle in over a couple months. Dont know if people's interest would stay up though
A statue is an acceptable entry, however, I would prefer sticking with finding a piece of 2D art to use mainly because it will make you put a little extra work and imagination into bringing a 2D painting to a 3d world.
Along with that, also try and find one piece of art to work with and not mix several pieces into a new composition (however...that does give me an idea for later...)
it does not have to be in the same style, no. it can be a reinterpretation of the original piece.
I think that should cover things so far. Thanks for the entries so far guys.
Oh, one more thing, if expanding the deadline a bit will bring on more people, I'd be glad to.
I'd like an extension, myself.
I've been quite busy in the off hours for the first few weeks of this. Even at my current pace, I will not finish this in time
Yeah, I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew by deciding on a full scene. That said, I'm now at a stage where I pretty much only need to model the character... might be quite tight though. I'll still try and get finished to the current deadline, but I'm doubtful about making it :P
