So i'm trying to set up a project in maya 8 that I can burn to cd, and still be able to read all the files off the folders on the cd. How do i do this?
Rite now i've got my projects set to c:\apps\maya\scenes\ProjectA
with all the sub directories for that project.
And i need it to read from the sub directories on
D:\ProjectA
Thanks.

Use file>project>new to set up projects correctly. Give each project a meaningful name, and "use defaults" for the sub folders. Generally, you can delete all but "scenes" and "sourceimages", unless you're planning on doing something a bit fancier than just a textured model with a rig and animation. I usually also keep the "images" folder, as Maya likes to put the occasional thing in there, like UV templates exported from the UV editor. If you create project directories like this, all you have to do is then file>project>set, and pick the top level folder of the project (which will be called whatever you put in the "name" field of the project setup). Maya then knows which paths to use for everything, and absolute paths don't matter.
