Ya I watched this a while ago. Nice animation and I think its really cool that people take the time and effort to make these shorts. I don't know how they do it. It makes the world of 3d a better place:P
That being said.. let me poop on dollface. My god I feel like there have been 100 and one chris cunningham influenced cg animations. Even if you have never seen that Bjork video I'm sure you have seen 50 other things that seem to borrow from it. Also the "message" feels a bit rammed down your throat. I get it! I get it!
all in all I think its great, but it just passes by like i have seen it before. Is that bad? Maybe its just CG overload. Anyway big props to whomever did it. Still a great accomplishment.
Ah yes, saw this a little while ago. The message may be heavyhanded, but still effective enough, I think, and the style and animation were nicely done overall.
A tasteful and nicely put together little short. I wish the very first camera movement going from the TV to the "doll face" weren't quite so mechanical... that's one of the things that always gets me about CG stuff... it's either too mechanical about the camera, or of course super-excessive shakey cam. Both are better avoided
Jay--funny you'd mention Chris Cunningham; I'm a big fan of his but "All is Full of Love" didn't cross my mind at all. Yes, it's got a composited female face in there... but other than that, what's really CC about the short?
I can appreciate the effort and artistry behind it, but personally I didn't like it. I found it too derivative, and felt an awkward disconnect between the CG and the live action. It's funny how the Youtube comments think the face is CG. Oh wait, its Youtube.
Thanks for sharing.
*edit* totally gauss. The opening camera motion was desperately in need of an ease in.
