I am hoping that someone can get the kinect to work as a motion capture for animating models. Would be an awesome asset, especially for the indie game market :poly142:
imagine if you hooked a few kinnect cameras together to get a complete scene! oh man, that's cool
It's been discussed, but isn't feasible because of the way Kinect receives data through it's IR sensors. In essence you can only use one Kinect at a time. Which is a complete bummer..

For now
I was thinking of how great something like that could actually be (multiple kinects in one room). I would not be surprised if someone finds a way around this.
My thought was, it would be cool to create a house system, like Jarvis from Ironman. It would identify objects in the room, and could react/respond based on those objects. Like turn on equipment, based on the individual that enters the room.
Personally, I think that's too much choice to give to the players. We're into that kind of stuff, so we have a good eye, but your average player will come up with ridiculous stuff.
That said, they should think about selling something like that as a tool for char artists. I'm sure there are people who would love to generate a base character that way, then export that into zBrush and build off of it.
Wow, this is where character customization is going eh?
Soon there will be almost no need for character artists, you just need one base mesh, beautifully modeled (if i may add) and then just many controllers, like shown here.
This is some amazing stuff, expected nothing less from EVE though.

The part that really gets me is when he puts a little smirk and emotion into the character at the end.
Edit: female version
