tips to help max render large scenes....

Hi all

Well,we finally got to the point of creating a scene thats too detailed for our lowly computers to handle so we're having to make cutbacks in the scene.

im just wondering if any of you more exsperienced guys and those of you that work on hires videos and such have any nice little hints and tips on how we might be able to help max conserve memory and help it along for rendering these larger scenes?

Instancing as much as possible helps, this goes for materials, textures, meshes, even modifiers.

Xrefs help too. Also modeling with the camera in mind, only modeling the detail needed according to the storyboarded plan.

Use Mental Ray, it's optimized to handle large scenes. And you can increase the memory it uses if you need to in the Processing tab of the render dialog. Change the Memory Limit to a higher number.

Close other programs that may be running.

Turn off "Rendered Frame Window".
