I think this is nice man, ready to kick ass again. Blue effect is very interesting.
...nitpicking I think crotch is too low and boobs a bit too high which makes legs slightly short and belly area longer. All quite subtle though, maybe a matter of taste.
Hi enemies/friends?. I disagree with having to add details in the breasts and stomach region, though maybe a tatoo on the belly would be cool. If everything is detailed then nothing is detailed as suddenly everything gets lost in this sea of detail and you can't tell whats what. Breaking it up a bit with detailed and non detailed areas actually works out better. Just look at Corum from the last DW, his upper body is very detailed because its the important area, detail is less on the lower half of the body - and the results were still phenomenal. Would have been too much for the eyes if he were detailed heavily from head to toe.
Oh and goodluck, I am secretely cheering for you. If our characters were to meet in battle, there is a possibility that my character would be tempted to fight for evil :P
Looking sweet, V. Let's see her mop up those weaklings like Corum did last year!
The only thing that could use some work is the fact that she doesn't look all that futuristic. She's very "Dungeons & Dragonsesque." It's not a bad thing, per se, but a lot of the judges came down hard on Corum for not being futuristic enough, and I think it might come back to bite you this year as well.
you and peppi aint got nothing on me, magikmann haha! i wish i could talk ish like that but the truth is you both are really talented much props for winning last years DW rawkstar. and i'm definitely after you two and the polycount team.
hehe, wires wouldn't be much help, they're pretty dense they way they are now, i basically tweaked my corum base mesh, the head is new, but even in that the base mesh didn't even have a mouth hehe
Awesome work as usual mate! Skanker might be right about the arms, but I had some other thoughts too. I reckon what might look a tad strange as mentioned above is her torso width compared to the rest of her, but also Im feeling like theres too small a distance between bellybutton and bottom of crotch. Also, in the front view you definitely want to curve the top of the back of the leg back in toward the butt, as opposed to curve out. Your gal is definitely within the physiological boundaries of feasibility of course, but If you cant nail the weirdness you were worried about, I did a quick paint. http://www.daz-art.com/vpaint.jpg
Just some ideas! Cant wait to see this progress V.
I'm just crying ...your work is amazing.
All the mech. armor like this You do always under sculpt sofware as ZBRUSH or MUDBOX and then sharpen the details under 3DS MAX ?
In a modeling high poly I'm little bit lost.
question: what's the deal with mudboxing the whole thing? I mean...that looks pretty Scottish?? is it worth to sacrifice quality for speed? i'm pretty excited to see how the normal map turns out though. Good job
i would be willing to bet he is doing as i am and going to retopo the harder surfaces.. its just nice to have a roadmap on where to place things, and to have a guide when you start making the final mesh. it speed things up, well at least for me..
you may notice "slap" now has an adjusted sig and profile. i wonder how that happened?
hope you get some time between long hours at the dude ranch you work at down in texas to work on this, rockstar. i know they work a cowboy like you pretty hard. but lol boobs ftw, u know? come ON man.
Rawk, will you model floating geometry over that mesh by retopology, or just create new mesh under and use that high res just for check proportions?
p.s:gauss, you rock!
yeah i'm going to retopo the whole thing this mesh is just for proportions and seeing how all the pieces fit together etc so the final result doesn't look awkward.
I'm curious about the retopo thing. Of course u rework the anorganic parts but do u retopo everything even the organic parts?
What advantage does a hires topo mesh have against a sculpted one? Is the baking result better? The animated one will be the lowpoly anyway, so why all the work. Thats very time consuming: Sculpt -> Hires with topo -> Lowpoly...
it is very time consuming, you're right. if this was a film character then obviously everything would have to be retopologized for correct deformations etc, but game highpoly models are only used for normal maps so their topogoly doesn't really matter as long as they produce the right result. so you would basically "sketch out" some complex mechanical pieces and then rebuild them propperly with subds so that the normal maps will look perfect. the organic parts are usually fine with just mud/zbrush work.
also it doesn't look like i'm going to be able to finish this character in time. the whole marriage thing took up more time than i anticipated, and there are some other things i need to work on in my spare time right now. I might finish this up in the future though.
how long have u been married? and its already begun...
(i really shouldn't say stuff like that)
well, its too bad that this concept wont be realized anytime soon... i was looking forward to it. maybe next year!
good luck with all ur other projects and stuff....
and congrats (once again) for the marriage and the magazine cover !

Only the upper back looks not perfect too me. It seems a bit too broadly.

but its already great. Awesome concept work too!
are the armor bits going to be sepprate ?
now a whole lot done, started the block in, haven't had a whole lot of time to work on this.
