this is your second notice--the rent for a spot reservation is to post a concept or thumbnails within three (3) days... i think you're overdue on your rent.
Hmm from the first set i'd say the top middle one. But than again that looks to general-ish..
The one casey mentioned could be cool though.
The other 2 look pretty generic..
Keep up the good work!
you are a life saver man, thank you snowfly, snowfly is going to be doing my concepts for this btw, and from what i see this is going to be sweet. Thanks again man.
Sup dudes, snowfly said its cool if we change up his design a little so i want to take it into kind of a dark kind of hell raiser look and what not. But dont worry, im not going to get away from his concept that much, just wanting to put an even darker feel to it overall. These are still very, very WIP ok guys, so First, the silhouette's,
and started messing around with the head as well,
Thanks for the reply Quickel, yea, i agree with the wanting to look like a rascal part as well. Want this dude to look evil by the time its all said and done.
Hmmm snowfly has done a really spectacular job on the concept so far but I'm not sure if i'm that keen on what you're changing. At the moment it looks like you've got a grunt type soldier from a quake game and extruded his legs out and gave him a rear leg for a seat. I know that sounds harsh and others may totally disagree but hopefully you can see where I'm coming from. One of the reasons snow's concept really works for me is what he did with the actual head and body of the creature, and the way the legs joined the body. I'm not saying you shouldn't evolve the concept but you should feed snow your thoughts and see what you both come up with. Keep it going man.
Petrol, I agree completely. The concept is awesome, the model needs work. Titan is a capable modeler, but I think he needs to pay more attention to snowfly's ability to develop interesting concepts. The model would be well served to follow the concept; that concept is a winner.
here's a second pass at the concept. you mentioned hellraiser, so i tried to raise hell with the design a bit. finally found a couple of hours to spare tonight, sorry it took so long! and by all means, feed me your thoughts.
cool! i really like the red stuff on the feet! i'm not so sure about those bumps on top though... looks kinda weird.. but i love the torso and his weapon!
the idea behind the front legs is they're like poison syringes, and the red globes are the sacs. the skin running down the front is slightly thinner, revealing the color of the poison beneath.
the knobs at the joints are bone protrusions, just thought they'd be a cool and disgusting detail. the little lumps all over his skin are fleshy knobs that i placed purely for the gross out factor. the skin on my neck crawls just thinking about running my hand over those things, hehe. i carried out the fleshy knob theme throughout the character- they also stick out of his elbows, face, and his fingers are just slightly more rigid versions of those.
glad you like it! and yeah i'm quite fond of the buzzsaw too. the last good use of buzzsaws i remember seeing was back in the 80's.
Sorry, was more like early monday morning, but i still posted em . Anyway, these are the HP versions with some shader and color tests im working on, the HP is still being worked on and tweeked before i take it into Mudbox to get a detail pass on it. Still some work to be done on the legs and arms, and need to get started on the weapon as well. Anyway, here it is, still a WIP.
Hey thanks for the kind words Quickel and Snowfly. Yea, i hope to have all the geom worked out by this weekend so i can start with the detail pass on this guy. Thats when the real fun begins.
mouth/head look a little goofier than menacing at the moment, and the arms appear to be made out of delicious (but not particulary scary) noodles.
but i only kid because i know you will address said issues! glad to see snowfly swoop in with so much badassery, and for you to take it through in 3D. you're on track to finish with the right amount of time to polish and present, so let's see it happen!
Sup guys, got a little update for ya on the high poly. Still have to work on the buzzsaw and still have a little bit of work to do on his arms but its going pretty smooth. Hope you guys like it,
Nother Update, heres a gray scale image of the finished high poly for the big guy, will have the high poly buzz saw of his done and posted by the end of the day tommorow. Gona start whiping out the low poly after that, now the fun really begins...
true that Quickel, yea, maybe i can do something in the texture to give it that effect, thanks for the kind words as well, and to you as well Struve. Still havent done anything to the spec map on the charicter yet and the diffuse and spec for the buzz saw is still needing to be done as well, so this is still wip, thank god for extensions aye guys. Though it would have been a fun mad dash at the end to get it done, but hopefully now i wont have to run as fast... anyway, heres with the update.
I dunno why but when I looked at the weapon he had I thought of like a wacom tablet pen (FROM HELL!)
This character came out awesome!
the only thing I just suggest is on the back with the poly count logo , give it some more brightness to it, its very dulled color and is very hard to make out
off topic but did you hand draw that logo of the poly count or did you save it from somewhere?
Thanks seforin, lol, does look kind of like a wacom pen dosent it . I made it in illustrator and used it on my avitar when i first joined PC, i just took it from that old file and rastorized it in PShop. Adgreed about the brightness, i want to represent so im going to mess around with it to make it stand out more, thanks for the crits man and the kind words.

if you can push the arms (cloth) to the same level of quality you captured the concept realy good!!
keep it up!
