i'd make it my wallpaper too, if only i had a computer to use wallpaper on
KP you were tag-teamin' it last time around, and while it was cool, the full meal deal never showed up. so with you busting it out solo on the mic this time, as well someone as talented as you should be doing, i want to see YOU show all these silly kids how it's done. you've already been more than a role model in showing that at polycount posting a topic = posting content... so let's see your initial sketches, man!
just noodling around in photoshop - i haven't hit anything i particularly like. they all appear very similar to me. i was getting a little frusterated so i headed to the bar with my sketchbook, did some fun sketches there, but nothing that really helps. i wasn't feeling very creative, i'll have to try again when i make time.

Could I suggest some sort of chemical warfare type agent to ya? Basically some sort of walking pathogen agent? Not so much a stereotypical white trenchcoat with some syringes, but the character itself is the emitter? Just am idea for ya.
you seem tired, KP, i can feel it. when you talk about going to the bar and coming up with nothing, and these two mostly no-idea doodles... i know you've got all the good stuff inside, you just need to start drawing from a different well. this one's done dried up for now, which is like the worst feeling as an artist.
my suggestion is changing up your workflow. i'd suggest a concept-tag style iteration-from-abstraction type of thing, since i know it helps me to have some 'raw material' on the canvas to carve into and play with if i'm feeling idea-less... but i think more than anything, you need to come back down to earth out of paintery-land.
for the last year or more you've done some really great stuff with composition, lighting, color, custom brushes (and soft brushes, especially), but i think you need to temporarily forget all that, since it seems to be causing more trouble than good while you're in your early stages.
paradoxically, i think working under narrow constraints can sometimes be the most stimulating thing for creativity--do something to bust you out of your normal routine and comfort zone. like if you're doing the sketchbook thing, go with a pen or something, something you can't easily correct and possibly something that discourages shading. i tell you, recently in my sketchbook, i was waffling with the nastiest, half-baked shit ever, when i switched to ballpoint and it was like a light going on. i told myself no more shading, and i started busting out detailed, interesting looking character sketches.
so that's an idea... use a pen, use something you usually dont use to draw, be it either in photoshop or on paper, and run with it. or use one of those techniques, like never lifting your pen from the paper while drawing, to give you some sort of restraint to put shit down.
i think you'll come around in no time
i appreciate the time you've put into your comments gauss - they truly are invaluable to the community here. i was tired and waiting for the weekend. i just read what you wrote tonight and you're very right and had offered some great advice - thank you again!
Whaaaaaat, this is going to be crazy sickness. Looks good, I'm kinda wondering what the extra leg extruding from the elbow is for? But then again you are pretty random at times so its not a suprise. That large blade with the poly symbol would be good for chopping off a couple thousand heads digging it. Looking forward to your progress, keep it up!
ok that was six words, but i couldnt contain my exitement. very original idea with the arm, i'm sold!
//edit: to counter out that shameless asspat, i'll just say that i dont like that sword thing at all.. i dont know what it is, but i think its the curve that makes it look silly and impractical. Loving the little greentooth tho, but i think you could do better than that with the shape of the sword.
hahaha.. you have no idea how happy i was to be proven wrong about how much steam you had left in you
i still stand by my talk of switching up processes if you're getting tired, but i think that concept proves well enough that you had some steam and then some. that, kids, is what winning entry-level concepts look like. though it's great to see him all rendered up, with or without the deluxe KP treatment this guy looks the part--a real juggernaut of a fighter.
oh, and since last i've seen, your meshwork is looking a lot crisper, too KP--good to see work has been as good to your skills as your skills have been good your work

Amazing concept dude, way to raise the bar a million miles into the air. My most favourite entry by far.
