yea dude I agree with the drained feeling, between working at my casual games small company and doing OT and then working on finals at school and then having annal retentive girlfriend who gets mad your not spending alot of time with her to busy doing 3d (IF anyone else is having this similar problem Im giving you a cookie) and then trying to enjoy what little is left your youth drinking on st.pattys..
I think I feel my energy is going PFFT with this.
BUT IN EITHER CASE, with the little muster of energy we all are putting into our works, this guy is truely taking a amazing grace so far, the boots came out superb and im really honestly intrested seeing how you unwrapped them!
Im gonna toss a update to my guy some time this week, (Got till wednesday to get this done )
I really can't be fucked anymore.. the only thing keeping me going is the fact I put so much time in already.. going to be an uphill struggle this weekend I REALLY want to do something new
edit: ah balls thats not the spirit is it? 2 more days can't hurt. death to CGchat! death to 3d total!
looks nice.. i would put some color stuff into the boots.. or letzs say.. variations of brightness and or saturation.. to get more contrast and detail showing up, same with the tech-hand
and don´t waste time with the base.. make it very easy.. rawstar wins last year with a very very very basic base and a basic pose/rig
so keep going.. can you see the light at the end of the tunnel?
5am Tuesday is right... I think it's safe to say I'll be up until then
The posed render looks pretty awesome man! I love the arm and those boots... although the arms seem fairly short in proportion, could you just scale up his arm bones?
Also I think maybe a quick texture pass on the face and chest might help, just get some stronger shading and hue changes in there if you have time, at the moment it's all fairly uniform colour.
Only the base to do now though! See you at the finish line
good suggestions! good luck with yours man its looking ace
about the arms, I wonder if its just all the chunky stuff making them look short, if I place his arms by his sides they end quite comfortably halfway down the thigh
ok well considering recently I almost felt like giving up, I'm happy I kept at it and saw the end thanks to everyone who commented! I took a look at last years submission and I hope you agree this ones a step forward. cheers!
Is it bad that I think the lowpoly normalmapped screengrab looks even cooler than the textured version though?
Seriously, the mesh (high and low) is really great... I just feel like the diffuse texture is flattening him out a tad.
Anyway, I'll stop my nitpicky moaning and just say congrats on finishing, and good luck in the judging!
I agree with mop, the normalmap is easily the strongest element of this entry and makes a fantastic normalmapped low-poly render.
I think largely this entry is suffering from over-saturated textures.
The concept looks about right, but the textures are atleast twice the saturation and it seems to make the green and red clash with the brown of the pants and the flesh. The armour pieces are generally overbearing.
Minus that, I think the entry itself is kool, best of luck

Maybe the skin tone is too brown.
