Very unique way of doing it. I never thought of using lattice for it.
I just duplicate it, apply a push modifier and then then wire material on top. Same effect, though.
Instead of Lactice you could just chamfer all the edges. If you go into poly mode and select everything, apply your dark material before going into edge mode, go into edge mode chamfer. The new polys won't be selected when you back to poly mode, so you can apply your light material and render.
Interesting technique, but I still think the wireframe material and Push-modified duplicate is the best way to go - it doesn't require altering your model's geometry, and I'm pretty sure it'll render faster. Also, it's easier to tweak the colour and wire width/opacity that way.
Nice method man , i always like to know alternative ways to do something even if it requires more work , but i have to agree with the push modifier , you get more control with it and a wireframe material where you can customize it all . But nothing beats screengrab HARR !
