HELP PLEASE

I been mapping for JK2 and I decided totry my hand am modeling a weapon. So I got the model worked up, skinned and in the player models hand, however the effect of the muzzle flash and all that do not originate from the *flash that I placed in the muzzle, it comes from his hand. I am so ready to just throw in the towel. I have been all over the web searching forums and asking questions with no success.

Without knowing the particulars of the game, my first thought is that you need a muzzle flash bone at the point on the muzzle where the flash should occur ... and some way to script that into the gun.

EDIT: Also ... wrong forum AND using all caps is considered bad etiquette in forums ... even for first time posters.

The JK2 engine could be defaulting to the hand tag if there's something wrong with your *flash tag. I'm not that intimately familiar with weps for JK2 but for characters the tags have to be very precisely created and linked. Have you been through Tim Appleby's (spacemonkey's) guide?

It's been a while, but I think you need to have a 'bolt/tag' that has the muzzle flash naming on it, and then make sure that is linked up correctly to the weapon bone. I know I had problems long ago with some characters not getting into the game correctly because of the bolts not being linked properly. :S
