Smash Bros. Melee, Windwaker, RE4, Mario cart double dash, Soul Calibur 2 , Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime Echoes ... you really didnt like any of them ?

I loved RE4, and Soul Calibur 2
From that list, that's about it.
already got my reserved. and i don't think they are so much 'kiddy games' maybe either family friendly, or they just don't translate well into american culture. Japanese love bright things and over here bright stuff is only for kids. nintendo does well for a reason, its games are fucking FUN. would you play a mario game if his overalls were gritty and dirty and he had a 5 oclock shadow? i probably would as long as it played well and is fun.

The problem isn't that they make kiddy games... or family games as you put it. The problem is that it seems like it makes up ALL their games (minus a handful). That's what keeps me from being interested in their systems. I agree that a lot of their games are fun, but I can get fun games like that on Sony or MS systems AND get the mature games.
oh neat, the mii channel and character creation are cool. i would bet these are for the wii sports games, you can make all your friends and family and they can be themselves when you play. little things like the weather channel seem really cool as well. its more sophisticated than i thought it would be, 250 is not too bad. i would wait, but zelda is launch title so i dont think i have a choice in the matter. oh and battalion wars 2 looks really awesome.
It'll probably be within another week or two before stores will start doing pre-orders. Now that the date and pricing are made public, the stores are pretty much just waiting to hear from the big-N about how many they'll be able to get their hands on. Once they confirm how many they'll be able to get, then they'll actually be selling them.
It only took a few pre-order debacles in the past to make sellers fearful of giving back refunds and pissing off customers.
Don't get me wrong, I'll be buying one launch day...maybe two and some games of course. I just posted that pic because it seemed like how some people were feeling. 250 is not bad and definitely not going to keep me from it. I stood in line for 17 1/2 hours with no bathroom breaks or food in 30 degree weather and rain to get a 360 when it launched. Oh was that fun. You can add your email to a subscriber service on gamestop.com where they will email you as soon as preorders are available at their stores. Probably will spam you but it is one way to know when to get to your local shop and put the money down. I'm pretty excited about what could be done with this console.
I'm excited about the Wii, but considering the hardware that's inside . . . it does seem a bit overpriced. Reggie said today that they're actually making a profit on the hardware (which they're probably also doing on their handhelds). I don't disagree with them making money on principle, I just think the 360 is probably a better value at $300 or $400. I probably would have bought it at launch for $199, but won't now unless Red Steel gets some amazing reviews.
Additional controllers will also be available from launch at the estimated retail prices of: Wii Remote - 39 Euros (£29 in UK), Nunchuk – 19 Euros (£14 in UK) and the Classic Controller – 19 Euros (£14 in UK)
They cocked-up with the 360 pre-orders so some might want to wait till argos/comet start pre-orders as they wait till they have confirmed their unit allocation.
So I got a serious newbie question, I just need confirmation. I looked it up on Wikipedia and it looks like the Wii has nearly identical CPU, GPU and Ram, and from looking closely it would seem the games have nearly the same level graphics as the Gamecube (I'm mostly examined Zelda screenshots, so maybe I'm off because Zelda was switched from Gamecube to Wii?) So are the new things only the controller and the online stuff such as virtual console? (judging by some comments this seems to be the case, I'm just figuring this out heh)

Wouldn't suprise me. How many times has Nintendo re-re-released something like the GameBoy and not really changed the hardware that much? 9-13 releases (depending on how picky you want to get) of the Gameboy with very little hardware changes between releases, mostly case color changes or new case design.
Yea, but keep in mind Nintendo was the uncontested king of the portable market until the PSP, they could afford to trudge slowly. Each console generation the technology jumps quite a bit more so not making that leap in graphics, but instead relying on a new remote is kind of risky....personally I like the sounds of it, I just hope A LOT more third party devs jump onto it!
some next gen games will be ported to the wii such as the next splinter cell game .. albeit it doesnt look quite as impressive it's still pretty decent ..
to those of you looking for shere horsepower you are probably better off with a ps3 or a xbox360 .. wii is only a few times faster than a gamecube
I've read on another forum that there's a law that says any sale has to allow the option of paying money (probably to make sure the dollar has a value)...

bah mario galaxy isn't till next year. Zelda isn't enough to tempt me.
I may get one to play cheap gamecube games littering the shelves here. So many games I missed out on. Also 500yen for an N64 title isn't all that bad. I have the nes snes hardware with a lot of games, most of which I payed well over 500 yen for.
I'll get to arse about with the Wii and PS3 this weekend

14£ for 2000 Virtual console points.
N64 games = 1000 = 7£
SNES games = 800 = 5.60£
NES games = 500 = 3.50£
Cheaper to buy carts(inc postage) off ebay for most SNES/N64 games.

Japan: 500 yen = 31 SwedishKR
USA: 5$ = 36 SwedishKR
UK: 3.50£ = 47 SwedishKR
What kind of twisted shit is going on here? This is downloadable content, right?
Still 49-59 euros converted is atleast 10 euros cheaper than most Gamecube games in Sweden.
Great that it's regionfree, there's absolutly no reason not to import anymore.

It's still up in the air if first party and some third party will be region free.
Hmmm that might make me hold back a bit...
As far as I can tell, the Wii can do a pixel shader or two at any given time, so lets say maybe Doom 3 level graphics?
I think i now actually like the 'wii' name also, its grown on me.
So are the new things only the controller and the online stuff such as virtual console?

I'm still getting a Wiivolution, it might not be on launch day but I will own one. Which is more than I can say for the PS3.
