Conference seemed pretty good. Better than I was expecting, at least. Gotta say, Microsoft looks a hell of a lot more competent than Sony right now.
The whole multi-platform thing seems to make getting a 360 seem like an even worse idea to me, though. If I'm going to be playing the same games with the same people on Vista, why get the console at all? I'll stick with mouse & keyboard, thanks. Not saying it's a bad idea, and maybe it has appeal to gamers who aren't PC savvy but have PC savvy friends, but for me personally its just another reason to avoid the console. Vista is something I'm going to have to get anyways.
Well, not everyone owns a PC. I think that's the point of it. Or, a person might not have enough money to really upgrade their PC for the last Vista games. So their only option would be the 360
well i could be wrong but so far all of the halo cinemas are realtime assets rendered in realtime but with a bit more polish efects than in game. So id say it would be safe to say that that it will look very close to that in game less some of the polish.
On Bungie.net, they say that it is entirely in realtime. The environment is a section from a level in the final game. Their breakdown of the video is pretty informative really.
I dont doubt the chief, ships, and cliff to be in realtime. The most impressive part of the demo was the sky, which I would bet my left nut is just an amazingly textured skybox. The background/mountains etc being part of it, and the sky opening just a cylinder with a shader on it.
The wreackage geometry was pretty blocky and the landscape was very empty. Just was'nt impressed. I've seen that idiots mug for years now and it's been the same stuff in each game just polished. Now... some backstory, actual progressive plot and take off his fucking helmet and i'll pick it up.
I watched the full conferenced with several other people... we all agreed that Microsoft severely shit kicked both the Sony and Nintendo's performances. Their game line up with top notch, and the new stuff they revealed was damn cool. Xbox live looks awesome, just what gaming could use. (With the arcade and all.) The idea of the network for the phone/computer/xbox looked great, etc...
I was very impressed all in all. And I am also going nuts waiting for some of those games.
microsofts presentation was ok. Nintendo's presentation was far more fun. I mean why let Bill Gates on stage? he has the charisma of mushroom, I mean WHY!

Even this early, I'm saying Microsoft is stealing the show.
I'm a huge Sony fan, but damn. MS has it down pact.

All Im worried about will be that there wont be much of a challenge playing online games with people forced to use console controllers...

Nooo, never take off the helemt *starts having Judge Dread flashbacks*
Actually, he does take the helemt off at the end of Halo 1, and puts on a new one at the begining of Halo2. You just never see his face.
