Japanese puppet show with big robot.

Ok, I was a kid in the 1980's and really into this show in England about a giant red robot that broke into three ships. Yeah I know... but it was cool. It was done with puppets and the baddies all where cyborgs with cool biotech arms.
Does anyone remember what this show was called or if there is a fansite?

I loved it. There was a girl with a yeti who flew around in a giant galleon. It used to be on on Sunday afternoons for a while, years before Terrahawks.

Brian May did the UK music everyone claimed, but he didnt really.

Oh, and they all died in the last episode.

After reading the site, it was actually a very different programme in reality than the one I remember watching as a kid. I'd love to see it again - hopefully it's not crap.

Rick, watch the clips in the link. It certainly shows it's age, but I can see why I was so in love with it at the time. The hardware was very appealing - and we'd never seen anime puppets before - at least in my neighbourhood.
