Java is crashing my machine

Lately my machine has been seemingly randomly crashing while browsing the internet. I've now determined that anytime a java app tries to run my computer crashes.

I've tried uninstalling Java and running my machine for a while- no crashes. However it's necessary for certain apps, namely my companies games, that I am capable of running Java. Anyone have any idea where to start with this one? I've tried multiple times installing a clean version of Java and the result is always the same.

Did you try it in a different browser?

Java always shows up as a virus on my system. Performs poorly, and was basically a bad idea. I keep it off.

Indeed I have, albeit it's irrelevent as I need to use certain apps that access java and thus the browser issue is just part of the problem.

Did you get Java fully uninstalled? The Microsoft version of Java needs a registry fix to be properly got rid of before you install the Sun Java Virtual Machine.
