What should the settings be for an alpha map in Blender? I set up a color and alpha material but when I render the alpha map isn't doing it's job.

Thanks Gmanx! It turns out the alpha setting was set to 1 and not 0. That did it!

Man, that tutorial is overcomplicated... To avoid specular on transparent parts just set SpecTra to 0 under Mirror Transp.
