does microsoft hate firefox?

i use firefox and i notice a healthy number of problems with internet plugins etc. i tend to noticed microsoft related plugins more often that others.

am i just being paranoid?
my question is, do you think microsoft is purposely making firefox look bad?

Of course MS hates Firefox. It's opensource and it's competition. I think the feeling is mutual, the rest of the world hates WMV.

Just received that same browser message recently. I've had trouble using Firefox with WMV forever. Isn't really a big deal because WMV is a crappy format anyway. Quicktime, Avi, and Mpeg works well. I've also had trouble viewing Microsoft websites. And up til recently, had a strange error when trying to check my hotmail. Answer: Switched to Gmail. Everything else seems to work fine.

Quicktime is just as awful, especially the crippled player Apple wants to push onto Windows users. Thank Human for Quicktime Alternative.

Yes, the quicktime player is a pile of crap.

I have my own axe to grind with Apple over quicktime. I bought windows quicktime version 6.5, and now the free version 7 player is out. So, I can't watch any new content on the free player 'cos as soon as I install it it will invalidate my PAID FOR license. Well done Apple. Couldn't they just code in the new free player so that I can watch new movies without invalidating my license, but only get advanced features with 6.5 or less?

Back on subject, I use firefox exclusively - and I assume any site that matters will make sure that they're viewable in any browser. Go go Open Source - screw M$

I know this is now just a "bash Microsoft for any reason" thread now (hehe bash)...but

Any one else worried about what's going to happen when Vista is released? All the compatibility issues. Perhaps our favorite software will no longer run on it. I was prevented from playing some cool games after XP was installed.

I've been making plans for a long time, that when Vista is released, and XP stops getting support, I'll already have switched everything over to Linux for me and my gf. If I'm going to have to deal with compatibility issues again, I may as well switch over to a better system. Hopefully SymphonyOS will be stable by then.

Besides there's a firefox add-on that lets you play WMV's. I use it at home works fine for me.

Well actually this would have been much worse back in the browser-war days. Nowadays MS seems to have moved on, and not care that much about the browser anylonger (as seen by the lack of IE updates). But MS beeing MS they still throw in the occasionally barrier, intentionally or not
