I've read several issues, but I realized after today's that I hadn't seen any post about it on polycount. Free, well written, with industy insiders writing, I definately recomend subscribing via email to recieve the updates.

The first post about it was a reference to Costikyan's "Death to the Games Industry" article. Can't believe you missed that one, Ben.

The Escapist marks the first time I've ever seen an online publication actually pull off the layout of a print magazine, and make it work as a web page. I enjoy reading it just for that.

Looking at the articles in past issues, however, there seems to be an overabundance of 'it was great back when, ought to be that way again' articles by old paper-games guys gone digital. Not that that's bad all the time, but it seems to be the slant of the publication.

I think thats a slant toward truth in an attempt to leverage the public and industry awareness to a point that it works toward restoring some of what we lost in the rush toward the dollar sign.

I think that if there is to be a 'free press' that it should be committed to these ideals rather than the usual back scratching fear mongering consumerism driven bullshit that is the national press here.

Of course, perhaps I'm missing the point of the press

That's a good e-mag thanks for the linky ...yeah EA is evil to bad they lost the founding vision....Trip Hawkins lost it also ,they used to publsih some awesome games .
