wow!! i am simply amazed.. my hosting company has all these neat features and one of them is to check what browsers people are using when they come to your site.. and in my first week of having a site i have over 40,000 hits, and 32,000 differnt users.. and 92 percent of those people where using mozillia/firefox.. only 6 percent of the people that came to my site were using IE and 2 percent were using "other" like opera.. i find this nuts .. maybe its cause i have only linked the page to other art fourms and maybe its just the techno dudes browser of choice.. but i wanted to see what people here use.. IE or Firfox/mozilla???.. i am a firefox man personally.. its the tabs.. i have to have the tabs.. without them its like browsing the internet with training wheels..

except some sites where it wont work like my bank..
I keep IE installed so I can fill out my time sheet at work. It's driven by a IE only plug in =(
I use Maxthon browser for sites that I like to have constantly refreshed. It's basically a tabbed IE (uses IE engine). I have about 4 or 5 sites constantly opened with it.
I use Opera for my free Yahoo mail. Again, it allows me to auto refresh, but I can't use Maxthon for this. One of the sites I always have refreshing on Maxthon is My Yahoo for my SBC account, which is my premium yahoo account. I can't be logged into my free yahoo and my premium yahoo with the same browser, so I use Opera for it.
Finally, I use Firefox for my Gmail account. Initially there weren't any extensions for auto refreshing in Firefox. There are extensions for this now, I just haven't done the switch over. If I want to do some major searching where I know I'll be using multiple tabs/sites, then I fire up firefox (Maxthon isn't very efficient).
I also have work related sites that don't play well with Firefox.
I really do prefer Firefox, but I was having site not loading correctly in it, so it does usually come to mind as my first choice. I've gotta retrain my brain.
Oh... and Mt Dew :P
home- firefox
Home - I.E on Win machines, Mozilla on Linux.
I guess I'm not a big enough web browsing geek to really care about the browser I use. Or is that a "power browser", LOL.
I did try Firefox and liked how much support there was for it, etc but the opening slowness when you wanted something quick- was horrid.
Here's the wedge.
With rising market share, more exploits and workarounds (exspecially those annoying pop-unders / in window popups) start to appear
Opera is no choice for me since it is closed source (That is important for me when it comes to work applications), but KHTML might be a good choice.
Does anyone work with Konquer?
As far as Windows goes, again my main browser is Explorer 6 (I can't stand 7 even slightly, look and acts like FireFox).. but I have Deer Park installed as backup.
Tabbed browsing doesn't bother me so much because for some reason it only feels right in Safari; but that's only available on the Mac. Shame cause that's a damn fine browser.
You'll find throughout communities where developers (art and programming) are conserned there is a much larger propotion using Mozilla, namely FireFox. Most claim because it's more secure with tabbed browing; but Mozilla has had both of these things for over 6years.
Personally I think it's just because it's the "cool" thing to use right now. Just like you seem some people speaking leet or using words like teh and da a lot. I doubt most people who use FireFox now even know what it used to be called! :coughminotaurcough:
It's also amusing to hear these same people bitching about Netscape. I mean seriously, anyone who knows the history there has just got to laugh when you hear something like..
'Netscape sucks! FireFox pwns!'
gah! leet and gamer speak, they vex me so. It's not like people are in games when they're typing in forums. They don't have like a second to type in a word before being fragged, you can take your time in a forum; but still they find it acceptable behaviour.
Definately seeing the nice sharp rise in FireFox being broken down recently. Past all the posturing of it being more secure and overall better than anything else that once again it's being proven that malicious coders are simply targetting what's most popular.
I think a nice test will be when FireFox does (not likely but maybe) own similar market share to Explorer. Seeing how they fair keeping up with fixes and patches. Because of the team working on it I'd wager they'll burn out and FireFox will be left to the community.
Work - IE
Oh and Opera.
I like it.
I don't think it's just techguys as my coworker(I work in a libray) uses firefox as well.
I don't get whats the big deal with firefox...
Oh and remember that page with the coke kills and coke guns, does anybody have a link for that,I forgot it...
Opera, IE when I want to see what the author ment the page to look like.
I've only used Firefox since the beginning of this year, and have liked it since before it was Firefox and didn't need to be installed. The computers I set up for my relatives have Firefox, and I do my best to hide IE from them. They have fewer problems now. I have few problems. I'm a little angry with companies choosing not to be cross-browser compatible, like Microsoft (msn.com) and Launch.com. I'm ok without them. I like choices, and functionality.
Oh, and i use Firefox, mainly for the extensions.
You're in Canada? I guess you'll have to do it like Gord and import the stuff.
They sell it here but for some reason not the 1.5l bottles.

It wasn't the power browsing that did it for me - it was all the security and virus exploits that plagued IE.
And I drink both pepsi and coke, no preferences.
I personally use firefox and drink whateer sugar free drink I am allowed to drink. I am trying to cut back on pop/soda.

and coke and pepsi are evil. Drink water.
Firefox at home and Firefox/Safari at work.
I just love Firefox extensions, popup blocking, tabbed browsing and the overall flexability of it. It's also OSS so I feel safer about security holes being discovered and corrected.
My favorite extensions are Flashblocker, Gmail notifier, and MediaPlayerConnectivity. Good stuff.
My hosting reports about 44.6% Moz and 43% IE... Opera takes 3rd and finally Konqueror.
MS Internet Explorer 65.7 %
Firefox 27.5 %
Opera 3.7 %
