My idea is to model up as many units/structures/effects in the same style as supreme comander. With them make a huge battle scene.
This is what i have so far.
Each object uses a 64x difuse, normal, and spec.
Next its a mech like the red one, but with missle racks for weapons. The red one will be the only copy as it was a test. All other units and such will be in that same style but of my design.

kick ass little buggers, TGZ. Looks great and nice detail at this camera distance. A few effects and a big one will really set this scene off. It already looks like a real game screen. You win!
Still adding details as its just 450 polys. Not going to have time for the textures tonight sadly.
TGZ is getting this stuff to look VERY close to what the screenshots of Supcom that have been posted so far, congrats TGZ!
a 64x for the leaves and a 32 for the bark. 178 polys.
Looks good
forest!
pine!
What should be the last tree? I'm thinking of doing that one tree with the white bark. dont know what its called, anyone know?
that would be a fun little compitition.. who can make the coolest 'game'
anyway, it looks cool man i think you could use a little more depth to your shaddows, or just contrast in general. right now the renders are looking rather flat..
john_warner: you should drop that idea by one of the Contest/Challenges people
I think i'm calling the enviro stuff done for now.
Sorry about the lighting, i just deleted my light setup before this.
Birch if my bad memory serves me

Don't you know how to recognise a tree?
Number 1, the Larch. The LARCH.
the larch.
That's really nice stuff. The use of silhoette is great.
Here is that scene with the new mechs.
Unless that's a reference to something I don't understand, I'm fairly sure the tree with the white bark he's thinking of is not a larch.

In total I used one 512 texture for the gound, nine 64 texture sets for all the units, fences, trees, rocks, and craters, and two 32x textures for the tree bark and the glowing lazer bits.
One thing I did notice is the flying vehicles don't seem to have shadows....but I'm guessing that's later to come
It's the 'style' these days to overload everything with glowiness. Someone recently said "light bloom is the new lens flare".
Sometimes it works, though. I really dig the glow on the fences and things. Gives it some style. The feel of the scene reminds me of something similar to Stargate, in a sense.
I think the map is nice as it is, but should be more translucent so you can see the action better.
having fun with planes... made that with 25 planes and two 64x textures.
