that's pretty damn good, especially for the time constraint i'd definitely be interested to see what else you could pull off in the same time frame? nice work
creepy crawly..
i'd say sharpen up the hairs / alphas so they're more fine, and maybe tweak the polys for the hairs so the angles are less visible (if any of that made sense... good).
otherwise, rockin'
Thanks guys . I might put some more time into it later before I bip it and get it ingame. The only thing im worried about is the way you have to alpha map for half-life, that cut out area has to be that harsh blue color, and thats not going to work well with transparencies, the hair is going to have to be solid to some extent... Oh well, i'm sure i'll think of something.
okay, new at the idea of modelling.. (kinda messed around some on some ancient "game programming starter kit" programs) what, overall, would you guys recommend as the best (or one of the best) softwares for creating meshes/models/whatevertermfits ?
I recommend Gmax to start out with, and then if you like it, move to 3D Studio max, Gmax is just the free version of 3dsm. Some prefer max, some prefer maya, lightwave, blender, xsi.. there are alot of modeling programs out there, just try some of them out and see which one your most comfortable with.
Fixed some anatomy issues and stuff, and got another shiney render for ya .
