Yeah, as a concept artist (i've got one already though) or an additional modeler or skinner (i'm the only active modeler).

I'm too lazy to write it all here, so the guidelines and crap are there.

    Gargoyle Arena was someone elses' mod for Q3a and never had a coder, so it died in late 2003 really. It also died due to Makkon drama in the past (he then quitted to join Dracten, until his recent departure/furry quitting recently here)

    Gargoyle Quake was lost in a HD switch and it isn't even the same idea

    Gargoyle's Quest III is completely different and it's just starring Firebrand only and follows the same platformer game/story as the preceding two games for GB/NES

    StoneFang is almost like Gargoyle Arena, but stand-alone, and with a coder (ME THAT IS LOL)

    The Stonedfag character guidelines are too strict for for no compensation, and allow little to no creativity (ie, bunch of naked monsters = bad character design). Also, you have some technical goofs, mainly your texture requirements should be quarter scale based on the polycount demands.

    Mainly the guidelines seem "strict" because i'm shooting for consistency with the limited skeletons I could have, but this could all change once the animation plans and stuff are written (because animating is piss-hard on my end, hence resulting on default sets of animation and such.) Most of the basic guidelines are however, not strict. I mean why have a wingless gargoyle laugh.gif though maybe the hair rule can be changed. Pardon the nudity stuff but that's me wink.gif (though that crap can get removed easily before release with a lil vert snapping, and it's not really a fetish or anything, besides everyone wanted it anyhow.)

    The code however won't be picky about model skeletons themselves, especially since they're going to be in MD3 or ZYM (created from HL1 SMDs) probably as well. The code will only want, want and WANT a strict frames-list. There's no animation.cfg nor a way to have an animation.cfg. This is one of the huge limits here.

    Maybe i'll change the texture rules a bit down to 512x512 if that's okay. This is my first "next-gen" project i'm doing and maybe i'm jumping too far ahead with demands, so bear with me D: heh. Shit and pants colors are definitely necessary however so tha'tll stay (it'll be easy to make those anyhow, but still unlike ut2k4, you con't have to make each color as their own texture as the engine will color the textures automatically)

    I take it you've never seen what reality calls a gargoyle? They are usually modelled after various demons and animals (often lions or undescribable lion-demon hybrids), withered and their mouth is ALWAYS open (or they have a steel pipe coming out of it). Your definition of Gargoyle would match most people's definition of demon so it's kinda hard to make a garg that looks like a garg and not like a demon while following your design... The average gargoyle has an age of over 100 years since nobody adds those to buildings nowadays.

    Besides, statues never have huge cocks and I'm not sure about gargoyles having those at all.

    I'm with KDR here! When you say "gargoyle" you actually mean "CheapAlert's definition of what he likes to see in a gargoyle".
    I would very much enjoy modelling architecturally based gargoyles, they often have a cool style and nice texture, intricate carving and such.
    I would not enjoy modelling what essentially amounts to a smooth-skinned, oddly-winged (those would never work in real life!) demon with a large cock.

    MoP / KDR: well have you seen the art of the Disney garg fandom? Their creativity is even more severely limited there, making them all do cartoony, anime "friendly" like gargoyles that all happen to look almost exactly the same. They often have the same clothes or hair too. Infact the fandom is so scary there it's crossing the line with furries as well, and we know everybody hates those. They role play as them in chatrooms even :P

    My descriptions would count the first pic btw (especially the notre dame gargs too). It's just that you can't really have something four-legged aim and crap like that. And when I meant by demonic, I meant by the typical HELL HELL look, i.e. red skin, hooves, etc.

    I'm not restricting gargoyles TOO much, it's that a standard animal/human gargoyle (in other words, a gargoyle with an recognizable-animal or too-human head) like most out there would just not fit into the whole chaotic theme of the game and take away the "monsterous" value.

    Fiendishes are awesome.

    Agreed on furry yiff culture need to be killed though, but that has nothing to do with gargoyles at all.

    Actually due to the new 18 U.S.C. 2257 law I might have to cut the nudity as I don't want to risk getting busted for an art project as gargoyles have no real age in particular (I never said penis was the focus of the whole project anyhow, don't forget there would be females as well) with possible legal backstabs and such exploiting it even though the law is for porn actors/actresses requiring extensive proof that the person portrayed is over 18. Can't see my gargs having that

    anyhow, what else is new, i've gotten a couple more volunteer contributing concept artists outside of here, damnit i want a modeler

    I think there was something about the law not applying to virtual characters. Since art falls under free speech protection (porn was ruled to not be art IIRC) it is theoretically legal to produce even virtual child pornography though there's no question that it's highly unethical.

    Concept artists fulfilled, and I gained one modeler and some not-on-team contributors

    Oh and if you don't want to model gargs in one full piece, i'm having an optional customization system that's tag-powered (Darkplaces doesn't support morph targets at this time) which works like attaching things to a basemesh, things like tail, penis, wings, feet, hands, head etc, you get the idea, and plus, all of these will follow the player's custom skin color and the secondary "tatoo" color. However i'm taking an extra step with heads - a base head without eyes, teeth and ears, with tags for horns, teeth, eyes (which can be colored, and probably have optional glowing) and ears. With this system it'll also maybe have a "dress-up" system too selecting a big variety of available loincloths ROFL.

    What's needed for the customization system? This is a nice shopping list, lol

    Also i forgot to note, that the body (and matching parts) will have several "texture" skins selectable, such as scales, tiny bumps, stone, etc. it's mainly bumpmap, but as some guys believe gargs are scalies/stoneys/fleshies, this option will be available. Diffuse maps are simple tones that get colored (i'm shooting for some sort of nexgen here)
