Gargoyle's Quest III is completely different and it's just starring Firebrand only and follows the same platformer game/story as the preceding two games for GB/NES

Mainly the guidelines seem "strict" because i'm shooting for consistency with the limited skeletons I could have, but this could all change once the animation plans and stuff are written (because animating is piss-hard on my end, hence resulting on default sets of animation and such.) Most of the basic guidelines are however, not strict. I mean why have a wingless gargoyle though maybe the hair rule can be changed. Pardon the nudity stuff but that's me (though that crap can get removed easily before release with a lil vert snapping, and it's not really a fetish or anything, besides everyone wanted it anyhow.)
The code however won't be picky about model skeletons themselves, especially since they're going to be in MD3 or ZYM (created from HL1 SMDs) probably as well. The code will only want, want and WANT a strict frames-list. There's no animation.cfg nor a way to have an animation.cfg. This is one of the huge limits here.
Maybe i'll change the texture rules a bit down to 512x512 if that's okay. This is my first "next-gen" project i'm doing and maybe i'm jumping too far ahead with demands, so bear with me heh. Shit and pants colors are definitely necessary however so tha'tll stay (it'll be easy to make those anyhow, but still unlike ut2k4, you con't have to make each color as their own texture as the engine will color the textures automatically)

I would very much enjoy modelling architecturally based gargoyles, they often have a cool style and nice texture, intricate carving and such.
I would not enjoy modelling what essentially amounts to a smooth-skinned, oddly-winged (those would never work in real life!) demon with a large cock.

I'm not restricting gargoyles TOO much, it's that a standard animal/human gargoyle (in other words, a gargoyle with an recognizable-animal or too-human head) like most out there would just not fit into the whole chaotic theme of the game and take away the "monsterous" value.

Actually due to the new 18 U.S.C. 2257 law I might have to cut the nudity as I don't want to risk getting busted for an art project as gargoyles have no real age in particular (I never said penis was the focus of the whole project anyhow, don't forget there would be females as well) with possible legal backstabs and such exploiting it even though the law is for porn actors/actresses requiring extensive proof that the person portrayed is over 18. Can't see my gargs having that

And no, you don't have to worry about the law. I REALLY doubt that anyone would even notice that some random guy is making a game with anatomically correct demons, let alone prosecute you for child pornography, thinking that said demons are 8 years old. Not an issue at all.

Oh and if you don't want to model gargs in one full piece, i'm having an optional customization system that's tag-powered (Darkplaces doesn't support morph targets at this time) which works like attaching things to a basemesh, things like tail, penis, wings, feet, hands, head etc, you get the idea, and plus, all of these will follow the player's custom skin color and the secondary "tatoo" color. However i'm taking an extra step with heads - a base head without eyes, teeth and ears, with tags for horns, teeth, eyes (which can be colored, and probably have optional glowing) and ears. With this system it'll also maybe have a "dress-up" system too selecting a big variety of available loincloths ROFL.
What's needed for the customization system? This is a nice shopping list, lol
Also i forgot to note, that the body (and matching parts) will have several "texture" skins selectable, such as scales, tiny bumps, stone, etc. it's mainly bumpmap, but as some guys believe gargs are scalies/stoneys/fleshies, this option will be available. Diffuse maps are simple tones that get colored (i'm shooting for some sort of nexgen here)
