just saw a clip of the mtv xbox360 thing and the size of the 360.... that thing is nearly as large as my PC tower. it's like 3 inches wide by 18inches tall and deep. i'm guessing the 3rd iteration of the xbox will drop all pretenses and just be a PC tower

Oh, here we go with the "DUURRR IT'S NOT REALLY A CONSOLE IT'S A PC" and "OMG IT'S SO BIG HOW IS IT GOING TO RUN MY GAMES?!?" arguments . When horizontal, the original PS2 is 12" wide by 3-1/8" tall by 7-1/4" deep; When horizontal, the Xbox 360 is 12" wide by 3" tall by 10" deep (so 1/8" shorter and 2-3/4" deeper). OH SHIT, THAT'S FUCKING MASSIVE HOW AM I GOING TO FIT IT THROUGH MY FRONT DOOR?!?
well sorry for see a brief clip and not having the EXACT DIMENSIONS! i was judging the size by the person carrying the console and it looked quite large and obtrusive instead of having a low profile that doesn't scream 'hey look at me! i big, shiny and expensive.'
does the xbox 360 even lay flat with concave surfaces?

Sure. Its weight will adjust the surface it's put on to make it fit everywhere.
