Hey guys, finally found some time to work now that schools over WoOt
Im working on the spartan hoplite player model... At the moment im not sure if his body is right. Hoping to get some CC to set me straight before I move onto his armor.
hey matt, great start! I'll try and cover as much as I can for you.
From the front, the face looks pretty good.
top of head from front is too wide, ears are flat on the head
face looks kinda dopey from the side, stronger cheeks and less sagging jaw line might help.
Oveall, you should adjust the side profile to look like a spartan.
For example: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&c2coff=1&q=spartan
They all have a particular nose structure and jawline.
pecs could be wider
does not have a butt
thighs are skinny and broke from the front
thicken the calves on the inside
ankles too pinched, they appear broken and unsupportive.
You used your edges to define the bone and muscle structure in the torso, but not so much in the arms or legs. A bit more definition there would really help.
As for the technicals of the mesh, you'll want to redo some of your joints for deformation, and the face seems a bit dense for the detail, you could cut at least half those edge loops. Same thing goes for the fingers.
J0- Kewl.. the only player models I've made have been greek oriented...Kinda just fell into the player modeller position on my mod team ( www.hoplitesmod.com ) :P Still learning...although I suppose we all are.
His arms and legs are a bit tubey, like you are blindly following a silhouette without actually knowing what muscles are causing what bulges. I'd suggest studying anatomy more.
also try to find a better lighting scheme when making these screenshots, it's very hard to see what's going on with the model.

Not trying to be a downer, just issues I see.
