I'm not a big fan of the name, I preferred Xbox Next.
But the reason they didn't use Xbox 2 is because they figured some idiots would assume that PS3 would be better than Xbox2 because it has a larger number on it.
Well you could transfer your Xbox Live account onto other Xboxes using a memory card, and of course still og-on on your own machine.
I assume it'll be the same here, you can use your Live account on either the new one or the old one.
Unless Microsoft don't want to continue running the old servers.
That's not French, it's either Dutch or Danish (I tend to think it's the latter but not sure). The numbers are probably for the RF channel selection, they said there are four channels which would correspond to the four numbers.
Yeah, DoA4 looks great but that's kinda predictable considering how great the previous games already looked and the huge increase in power displayed here but it still seems to use the old lambert shader instead of some proper skin shader (the skin looks somewhere between metallic and rubber, depending on the character), the characters still look fake though I'm not sure they were even trying to make them realistic.
Those Red Storm pics look like someone thought that stupid bloom shader would make anything look better. Bah! Never mind lightbloom doesn't happen in reality unless your lens (or some glass in between) is dirty. It might be excusable as a stylistic choice (e.g. you have an angel character that glows and has light blooming around him) but not for an entire game.

The resulting console is stylish and elegant, and you'll never feel the need to tuck it away when company's coming.

PFFFFT! aHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAAA!
If this was Pratchett you'd read the line "He had no idea what 'stylish' and 'elegant' meant but seeing the way Gamespy used them he decided they must mean something like 'ugly' and 'grotesque'".
Even funnier:

god that show was horrible. started watching it, but just got irritated on how they presented it. downloading so I can skip through all the crap
Just sat down and watched it... just absolute crap. nothing really impressive at all. I was hoping for more talking about features and specs of what the xbox 360 can do. all I saw were some mediochre looking games. the music performances felt pointless, the audience looked like they were paid to fake excitment and/or just to see the killers who in my opinion arn't that great of a band
I believe it's because the IBM chips are closely based on the G5 chip. So to get dev kits out asap they basically altered a G5. The full blown dev kits should be shipping this summer something though.
Danish, rough translation:
"The controller is a bit smaller than its predocessors. It also has an entirely new button that takes you directly to the Dashboard." The text says nothing about the numbers.
Just wanted to say that 360 looks like a early 90's desktop computer turned sideways, horrible design. But hell, if it can play games it works...
The X spherical button is the 'UI' button. It allows you to access the games features like playlists and shit or something. http://ourcolony.net/ and get the video - it explains it in there. The controller still looks too damn large, and I'm glad they moved the black and white buttons - they were just unusuable on the old S controller - totally out of the way.
EDIT: I can't seem to access the colony video now - but I have it on my computer so would send it over IRC. Just ask me in #model_design
Is their only push for the system the fact you can play movies, music, and talk to friends? Wow...I wish I lived in a world were a device made that possible. It's like a computer for people who can't use computers. While the graphics look nice, I'm still waiting for the other two systems to blow Microsoft away.

512 of ram, not bad. I wonder what kind of digital rights managment BS they're going crap on it with those media capabilities.

Wait, I thought it couldn't play xbox games. So what if that player still wants to play xbox games as well??

It's no huge surprise the xenon kits look like G5's. That's been news for almost a year and a half.
