Every 20 metres in San Francisco there was a large iPod poster advert. And suddenly everyone around me started saying "I think I'll buy an iPod".
I asked them if the advertising was breaking through to them, and they went "what advertising?".
SUBLIMINAL.

I'm not getting an Ipod. I still have all my precious 80's Vinyl to listen to. :-)
What a change from ten years ago, when Apple had clearly superior products, but were too aloof to think they had to advertise. Seriously, the stories you hear about Apple's marketing are that they really thought that their stuff was so good that people would just 'know about it'. That was before Jobs came back, of course. Now that the rest of the market seems to have caught up, Apple is making bank just selling the sizzle. Cool.
Apple does have some of the best product designers around, at least for the overall 'package'... but the iProduct is a deserved skewering. they way they write ad copy makes me want to vomit
I never did understand why the people who make "blitzy" cases for PC's suck so much at what they do. I'd buy an apple if the price/power ratio wasn't so terrible (and the fact that none of my programs would run...)
Oh now this is just precious. We have a technician here who is so rabidly pro-Mac this just defines him. If a Mac had a dick he would be polishing it feverishly. Now if I can just get a pic of him to superimpose...

iPods are worthless to me. I don't need a $300 device to play music, when I can easily carry a $20 CD player, and a few CDs.
I mean, it's a nice technology piece, but no.
