I am wondering how to make the texture see through in some areas. example; the hair, I want to make the end of the hair semi seethrough so it looks more natural. I think it has something to do with the layers or channels, but I am not sure how it works. I tried fiddling with it myself but I can not figure it out. If someone could explain or point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Probably way beyond what you need right now, but the knowledge does come in handy if you see a halo around your transparent material. 3ds max doesn't premultiply the opacity when it renders...
