All my textures have been resized to 512x512 so they will fit here ...
The reason i didnt use the spec map in the end was i couldnt get maya to display colour normal and spec in a rendered viewport accurately.

I asked the judges to submit their top three pics. I then awarded a point based system to the choices. 1st was worth 3 points, 2nd worth 2 points, and 3rd worth 1 point. I then added up the results to get our winners.
The results broke down as follows (sorted by judge):
Juan Martinez (monster): Illusions, Fat_Cap, and Neo_god
Jason Sallenbach (Dark Horizon): thermidor, Fat Cap, Illusions
Paul Warzecha: (The_Bird): Illusions, Sectaurs, Fat_Cap
Josh Stubbles (Vasago): Fat_Cap, Illusions, Sectaurs
Brian Jones (BoBo the seal): Neo_God, Illusions, Fat_Cap
Ben Mathews (Poopinmymouth): Illusions, Fat_Cap, Neo God
Point Tally:
Illusions: 12
Fat_Cap: 11
Neo_god: 5
Sectaurs: 3
Thermidor: 3
Illusions took first place with Fat Cap close behind. Congratulations contestants and I hope to see yall in the next one!

all great entries.
was nice to have the oppurtunity to learn normal-maps with the rest of you who participated, misery loves company
Although I have to say the overall standard was impressively high - there is not a bad model among these, they all look great.
Bobo: I'd have thought you knew Ben's name by now...
And...Snemmy, you modelled an Ice Queen, and I always have a warm spot in my heart for the Ice Queens...
Hopefully we'll see a larger turnout for the next comp, as these things that Bobo puts together seem to be quite educational and challenging. Probably wouldn't have touched a normal map, or even made a highpoly game model for a while. Now...I plan on doing more of them...can't wait for the next learning experience.
this challenge got me onto polycount ... i had never posted on a board before that ... and i think ive improved from the great coments and crits ppl have given me ...
normal mapping is great , i think the tool set is lacking on all modeling platforms , i guess its so new its not been implimented into the software we all use in a major way yet
Bobo: I'd have thought you knew Ben's name by now...

Thats payback for me mispelling his name in my gamasutra article. I always call him BoBo, so I did not know that Brian had an I and not a Y. Dang you BoBo!!! *shakes fist
It was a great contest, plenty of interesting designs.
Heh, I can always say although I got no prize, I essentially had third place, haha. No Prize? What the hell am I saying! My prize was a great portfolio piece!
Truthfully I cannot wait until next year's contest.
Congratulations to all the winners. I know how much hard work it took just to get an entry finished in time. Congrats to all the people that didnt place aswell - all of the models are great and there really isnt a bad one among them
Since there were fewer contestants than anticipated I will be awarding prizes to the top 2 spots.

Alrighty, just wondering cause my parents have been bugging me about this...how exactly do we go about claiming a prize (yeah...they're the 'Hey...wtf is this strange box doing in our mailbox addressed to our son, from a person we don't know' kind of people)...lol...
Tell them it's porn, and you got it from Ebay.

LOL...brown bag it...

At least you spelled my real name right
I probably won't be able to participate in anything until January at least.
