looks great shimmer, very good use of such a small space. why is the bottom of the shoe colored like skin? it kind of points out the fact that it is just a square. if you made it darker it would be less noticable.
forkmaster, the model looks cool, the skin is a bit nebulous. maybe try using more colors, and try to get more value in there. his shell and skin are all kind of the same tone. good start however. 8-)

bout 1.5 hours on the mesh, and 3 hours on the skin cause i suck
edit: mojo convinced me to figure out how to get the smoke to always face the camera..........i kinda faked it, but the way i did it worked. i also upped the contrast on the skin, i think it looks better.
i faked it by changing all the smoke polys to have orientation constraint controllers in the rotation slot. and set them all up to face the camera object. works......for the most part.

8X8 texture (no alpha) and a sheet (2 tris,1 poly)
Rendered in UnrealEd 2.0. (i suck at modelling objects except in the Unreal Editor)
