I think I'm the only person not looking forward to this at all.
I mean, I played through GTAIII and VC, where's the incentive to do it all again?
They also seem to have put in a bunch of pointless things like getting fat if you eat unhealthily, where's the incentive to eat the unhealthy food then? If that's all the effect it has, then what's the point of putting it in, ubless it's a token educational thing, which in a game like this is pretty lame.
The other thing is the focus on the hip-hop/rap gang culture which is a total turn-off for me
im pretty pumped. Just as pumped as i was for VC, which i think that i'll play this one til about an hour in and stop playing - which happened with vice city.
Dunno though, Dr. Dre AND Guns n' Roses in the same game?!?! i think i may wear my old flannel shirts when i play this one.
I'm still very unsure as to whether I'll be buying it or not. I may get it once it hits PC, but Like I said, I'm unsure. Because I too am not a fan of the whole Gangsta' Culture. I need to look into it more, though the ability to swim seems to be something nice.
put my preorder in nearly a month ago (along with my preorder for Halo 2)... I've been offered to play both by a now ex-friend who I no longer respect. Gonna be able to pick up GTA:SA after work on monday! can't.friggin.wait!
You need to eat to keep your character going. The fast food outlets will be situated far more conveniently and frequently that whatever they have as alternative. Simple.
i played gta 3 and loved it, when VC came out i was not interested in it, it looked more like a mod than a proper sequel , and this one here seems the same to me. i'm not buying the same game3 times just because its placed in another area, no offense to the people working on it, i'm sure it looks great and all
I don't have PS2 so I'll be waiting for the PC version. The PC version always looks better anyway, and I like being able to play my own music while playing the games.
Also, I actually enjoy running the story missions in the GTA games. And also just exploring the environments. What has me interested in San Andreas are the fact that there are 3 new cities instead of just one and also you can drive between the cities. Honestly, the whole thug/hip-hop thing is also a turn-off to me but not enough so that I won't enjoy the game. Especially since I'll mostly likely be playing my own tunes while cruisin' around.
on the whole 'thug' theme... ironically, the 'era' SA's set in is the same 'era' of rap music I still enjoy... the 'ghetto gansta' setting may offend or annoy some, but I definitely think it's a worthwhile deviation from the Italian mob theme.. and finally, about the location... California loooooove~ (yah, guess what state I live in )..
Not a fan of the theme either but i bet it will be tons of fun. And i hope Lazlow still has some metal station cause one thing i cant listen to is rap music and if there is no Lazlow atall then im gonna be one pissed off customer.
And I'd still like Elite-style freeform gameplay in GTA. Real consequences and the choice to stay legal while still reeling in profits. Of course that wouldn't go down well with the majority of the "crazy stunts and killing random people" crowd.
What are you saying? That IGN wasnt right in giving Everything Or Nothing an 8.5?!
;-p
C'mon KDR, dont be such a bloody cynic all the time. Theres no smoke without fire. It must have something fricking compelling to get a 9.9!!! The previous GTA titles all scored highly in reviews, and If like the review says alot of the stuff has genuinely been improved upon, and the experience is as deep as is suggested, then why the hell shouldn't it get a very high score?
Im highly confident that reviews across the board will be very high. IGN review or no IGN review.
I'm saying that it might have been a 9.4 +0.5 bribe or something. Realistically I believe neither that GTASA got 9.9 without any external help nor that the 98% score in the "world exclusive" first Half-Life 2 review was objective. Even almost perfect games don't score that high.
All I was really saying was 'wow 9.9 on IGN. It must be a pretty decent game'. ( I really wasnt expecting that much from the game )
I appreciate that a review is ultimately just someones opinion ( or even a bribe If your theory holds weight ) , but If a game gets an awful lot of high scores, its
( arguably ) gonna be a pretty damn decent game.
Checking GameRankings, GTA:SA has the aforementioned 99% from IGN as well as a 96% from GameSpot. Two data points aren't a lot, but with scores that high, either (a) the game really is very good or (b) Rockstar is throwing around a shocking amount of bribe money. Considering how popular and well-made the last two GTA games were, why would Rockstar even bother wasting money to bump their reviews a few percentage points for GTA:SA? The game is going to sell fucktons whether reviews give them 94% or 99%, and I'm sure Rockstar is very well aware of this.
The bribery line of thought lacks only a few Cheney-Halliburton references to make tinfoil hats mandatory
Daz: I think there wasn't any doubt that GTASA is going to be a damn good game (at least for the people who like this type of game, i.e. everybody but me) but 9.9 implies it's the last game you'll ever desire. Damn good and perfect are still two different orders of magnitude.
Just read the review on Gamespot. Dammit, I feel like playing that game because the things they described just sound too cool for school.
It almost justifies buying a ps2 for it
But I'll be patient for the xbox or pc version and will play the GBA version in tne meantime
Rick...will you be able to pimp some of your work on this game here in the near future?

And what makes you think SA or HL2 are not little better than almost perfect? If you have played them and found some flaws that ruin the gameplay then please fill us in.
First off, I love your avatar Rick and wish I could work there to use it.
Second, played the game for 35 minutes lastnight** and was blown away just from the first few moments. Sooo much better than VC and the first one. MUCH MUCH MUCH more enriched in its story, more dialogue, cutscenes, everthing.
**Only played for that short amount of time 'cause I promised a friend we'd play the game thru together, from the beginning. I'm off to his place now, have the entire day off - BOOKED it off for this sucker.
rotf lmao, Adam that video is funny as hell, i'm surprised NWA is playing unedited in the game, this is definitely not one for the little kiddies.
I might get this game in a few weeks when its available on store shelves again.

About the reviews... I usually trust Gamespot. It gave doom3 an 8.6 rating which is a nice number. Although it would have gotten much less in my rating (6.3 anybody?), but I wasn't expecting 9.* because it was iD.
GTA:SA like pak said, not my game but when it comes to the pc, I'll have a bash at it..
My mate was by reviews noting framerate. I know it's open and such but when it's made for a specific system, it shouldn't chug an awful lot.. nothing more frustrating than a console game with frame rate issues.

It seems completely pointless
Edit: Just my oppinion about the gameplay... to prevent any flamewars here

Ever played "Need for Speed: Underground"?
Good game otherwise, but that shit totally ruined the game
Yeah I know, but what I meant was that if that's the only effect of eating 'bad' food, why would anyone do it?
It seems completely pointless
