[WIP] F-15 Strike Eagle Cockpit & Avionics

Heyyyiee,
I'm currently working on a personal 3D modeling project, which is a detailed F-15 Strike Eagle. And I’ve decided to dedicate this thread specifically to the cockpit and avionics section of the jet. I’m aiming for a high level of detail and accuracy, referencing real-world schematics and pilot footage wherever I can.
This is my first time doing anything like this and it is very much a Work in Progress, so things are still in the blockout and early detailing stages, but I wanted to get some feedback as I go.
What I’m focusing on:
  • Accurate instrumentation layout
  • Realistic panel and display details
  • Correct proportions and ergonomics for VR or sim-style usage
  • Subtle wear and material details later on
Also, this is one of the few times in my life where I’ve truly felt the lack of DCS [Digital Combat Simulator], but am still not downloading that 150 gb game soooooo.
I'll be updating this thread regularly as I progress, and I’d love your critique, tips, or references you think might help me push the realism further.
Thanks in advance, and looking forward to your insights!

Cool project, fighter jet cockpits are super interesting! :) Are you doing this in subd?

I'd recommend to go back and redo your blockout. You wrote that you aim for accuracy yet most proportions are really off. Here are just some of the things that I noticed after looking through some reference photos. I think you went into detailing far too early, you need to really make sure your proportions are correct before doing details and bevels. Also, when asking for feedback it's always good to post your references. Hope this helps!

Thankyou for your feedback. In hindsight, I see what you're talking about. I guess I was trying to rush this project and thats why I skimmed past the proportions. Ill definitely go back to the blockout board and redo it more carefully :3

    Hey!

Thanks again for the feedback :)

I went ahead and reworked the whole cockpit blockout along with the side panels. Uni stuff has slowed things down a bit, but the F15 is still hands down my favourite passion project so far!
