I'm trying to connect a handle to a cup model, but the bevel from the handle has nowhere to attach to. If I add another edge as shown in the blue line It's going to ruin the perfect circle of the cup. How would I bypass this?
For these types of shapes, it's generally considered best practice to use the existing geometry of the curved surfaces as part of the support loop path around the intersecting shapes. Adjust the number of segments in the wall of the cup until the vertical edges line up with the support loops on the handle. Alternately, it may be possible to use a triangular quad to terminate the edge loops where the handle joins the side of the cup. Below is an example of what these two different topology routing strategies could look like.
